Happy rainy Thursday! Man…oh…man……I feel like I am living in Seattle ,Washington where it rains all the time. Poor Tutu has been scared during all of these storms…..she REALLY does not do well when it thunders. Thank goodness the vet gave me meds for her to take during storms. We did not get hit here in Fort Worth as badly as they did in Dallas on Tuesday morning ….and there was not even rain in the forecast until it got dark and stormed BIG TIME! Needless to say there was no W A L K for Tutu on Tuesday! I am glad it got out of the way for a pretty day yesterday…because mother’s sweet friend Richard had his funeral yesterday. That would have been a big mess having older people navigate bad weather. I would not let mother go anywhere when it rained….I was so scared she would fall. Yesterday was bittersweet for me~~~~ the service was tiny but I was included. Richard was like a father to me~~ he even told me after daddy died in 1970 that if I ever needed anything I could come to him. I never forgot that:) He and his wife of 66 years had already just moved into The Tradition here in Fort Worth….sold their home they lived in since the early 1960s ( our backyard joined theirs!),and my childhood friends Susan and Lynne came to get the house ready for the estate sale. I think God had put everything in order for Richard to pass away in peace knowing Judy was settled. My Country Day friends that I am still close to …..we have a group text Super Great in 78…..( man I am old!)..sent dinner to Richard’s family on Monday and we are sending dinner to Ben’s family ( who passed away the same morning as Richard) tomorrow. We have all lived through college, marriages, children, divorces, and now parents dying. There is great comfort in having friends this long who have always been there for each other.
After the tiny service yesterday there was an elegant lunch at The Tradition~~~ which is more like a beautiful house than a retirement home. The theory behind it is to be filled with antiques ( you know I love that!) and collections of antique accessories…..just like you would have in a home where you collected for years and years. There are many meeting rooms all elegantly decorated for cards, reading, and just visiting. The dining room looks like something at a country club. The food was fabulous….sorry I did not take pictures. I was a bit overwhelmed with the day and the reason I was there. It gives me peace that Judy is living there with many friends.
I left the beautiful lunch at The Tradition yesterday to have a meeting at the commercial job I am doing. I had to regroup in the car ride and put my work hat back on. My meeting went great and we are moving right along. I do not seek out commercial work….even though I have done many jobs during my 34 years of design. These jobs come to me because I do the client’s homes as well.
I hope everyone had a super Memorial Day…I know I did! The pool was crowded but I went Very early and got a table and a chaise lounge. Summer is here…my time to take a breath. The forecast is for more rain this weekend…bummer!!!! Maybe I will get one more sunny weekend before I go to the wedding at The Ritz in Beaver Creek on the 13th. Tutu and I are doing another road trip together!!! It will be great!! Her babysitter I found is $$$ per hour……but only the best for my Tutu and I will not be boarding her in a cage here in Fort Worth. I am REALLY excited about the wedding!!! It will be here before I know it! Have a great rest of your week and weekend!
Rivercrest always has fun events for the kids on holidays!
It was some kind of crowded!!!!!
I marinated skirt steak on Monday and Harrison grilled. I ripped this recipe out of a magazine over 10 years ago! I think I have posted it before.
Finished product. DIVINE!!!!
I went to a vendor meeting for Metaphors last week. It is represented by Kravet/Lee Jofa and founded by Hermes. We had a kidney pillow made for this chair with some fall off fabric. How stunning!!!!!
This is the same client~~~ we remade a needlepoint pillow that she had done many years ago with new fabric and trim. I met her daughter in Fort Worth on Friday afternoon to hand off the pillows to take to McKinney this past weekend. All fresh and wonderful!
I was going through old pictures dating back to 2017 searching for a particular window treatment on Tuesday. I ran across this room that I did in 2018 for a little girl. How happy is this???!!!
I also found this tv room/library that I designed about the same time. I pride myself with designing timeless beauty. This room still makes me smile.
The rugs we selected for my client’s executive office from Abrash. Stunning!!! The larger rug will go under a small conference table and the smaller rug will be under 4 swivel chairs. His custom desk that he wants to keep has a specific blue veining in the marble that looks fabulous with these rugs.
We are reupholstering 4 chairs in their executive lounge with this fabric from Osborne & Little.
Here is the rug ( also from Abrash) we selected for the executive lounge. This room will be gorgeous!
The small chapel where Richard”s service was held. So lovely.
I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!
I got my hair done today. Always a great feeling! The sun came out for a brief moment! I bought this mirror on a trip to Paris with The Market.
Poor drugged up Tutu!!!
Flowers on my breakfast table this week. I LOVE peony season!!!
