Happy Monday! Last week was busy with installations and a wonderful wedding at the zoo. Installation days are my favorite because it is all of the designing, planning, ordering, receiving, fabrication, follow up~~ all coming to fruition. The twin headboards that were installed in the guest room at my client’s house we waited 6 months to come in!!! It is crazy to think that during Covid that was normal! Thank God those horrid days are over!!!
The wedding at the Zoo was for one of my childhood friend’s daughter. She is one of the triplets that were in the class behind Riley and Harrison. Riley and Harrison’s class had two sets of twins…the class below had 2 sets of triplets and a set of twins. WOW!!! The setting at the zoo is amazing~~ just magical. I wish the weather had cooperated….it was 95 degrees when we arrived. It was a black tie event….so we were all FULLY clothed. I will not lie that I was uncomfortable. I kept trying to focus on how cool it was~~ setting not temperature!!~~ and make the best of it. When I introduced myself to the groom his wife told him I am Riley Genua’s mother. His face lit up and he said “ I love Riley!!” Of course that made my heart soar!! Growing up I was known as Cove Anderson’s little sister~~~ he was the “cool kid” and I was the studious one. Now I am known as Riley Genua’s mother~~ She is also the “cool kid.” At least in the world of design I am known as Kay Genua!!!!! I am fine and good with being the mother of great twins with lots of friends. Their friends call me Momma Kay which is so endearing!
Well…..there were highs and lows for me in football this weekend. The Cowboys won BIG and Dak Prescott set a new record surpassing Tony Romo with touchdowns. Way to go!!! TCU won big! Now about those LSU Tigers…….heartbraking. My Nanny would say that Lane Kiffin is “too big for his britches” and needed to get kicked around. Maybe this huge loss will bring him down a few pegs and get to work. Life is not ever handed to you on a silver platter!
Here is wishing everyone a great week ahead. We are getting a cool front that will bring us to th 80s during the day next week. It cannot come soon enough!!!
I was invited to this wedding in San Miguel de Allende but sadly could not go because of all of the plumbing problems I had to repair this spring and summer. Not only did I have 2 cracks in galvanized pipes original to my 1953 home… but I also had to repair new pipes in the sprinkler system that was replaced in in 2018. I could not justify another great trip after going to Florence in March. Riley had a BLAST!!!! This was taken at the rehearsal dinner~~~ Magical.
My good friend who was attending the wedding spotted this car on the street. Her crafty brother used Chat GPT to make the car Kay Genua Designs!! I have some party friends with me!! I just learned Chat GPT two weeks ago. I am loving using it to create rooms with my fabric and furniture selections!!!
I had the pleasure of having my cousin Shelley here last Monday~~ as well as Riley for the week! Riley came home for the wedding at the zoo. Shelley is an outstanding cook and gave me the recipe for this meal from the cookbook Defined Dish by Alex Snodgrass. I would include the recipe but after being sued twice for pictures on my blog I am too scared! You make this with ground turkey and lots of vegetables. It was fabulous!!!
I installed these chairs , ottoman, and restuffed cushions on Monday. I always love getting the picture of the finished product from my upholsterer. The chairs are done in a Pierre Frey fabric, ottoman in a No 9 Thompson fabric, and the cushions are in a fabric from S. Harris that are over 10 years old. Good design just lasts!!!!

Here comes my ChatGPT skills! I added swing arm lamps with the fabric that we intend to use for custom shades, the piece of art hung , and a little lamp on the table. Now…..I am having a hard time finding a lamp this short for the table ( it just made up one) but I am sure I will be successful finding one!
Here is the tv area in the same home with me adding custom pillows on the sectional and side tables. I have to be careful playing with Chat GPT because it randomly changes the scale of fabrics. The fabric on the chair and ottoman from Lee Jofa is not that large of scale. But it still gives an overall example of how the room will look.

My dress for the wedding. This is from Badley Mischka ~~ I bought it about 16 years ago at Neimans. I keep all of my clothes!!!
My shoes from A New Day. It is crazy that I can wear the same clothes being a different weight~~ they just fit differently. I needed a higher heel for this dress now that I weigh about 20 pounds less than when I bought it. These are darling but MUCH taller than I am used to wearing. My feet were KILLING me at the end of the wedding!!! But they sure are cute!
The tables at the wedding were stunning! A lot of different table clothes and flower arrangements were used.
