Happy Monday! Welcome to our last week of October 2026. My how time flies!! This month has beeen a busy one with a fabulous wedding, my neice Indrid’s baby shower at Joe T Garcia’s, and a party at Leddy’s celebrating their 104th year of business. WOW! ( I will cover the wedding and the baby shower in a separate blog:) My son Harrison passed his Series 7 exam on Tuesday of last week so this party at Leddy’s was a wonderful chance for him to exhale and enjoy life! To be honest any chance to go to Leddy’s is a joy for me. I adore any and everything that is unique~~~ and Leddy’s is a one of a kind shopping experience. Just like antique furniture and accessories add a unique aspect to a room~~ what Leddy’s offers is a wonderful addition to any wardrobe or home. Of course Leddy’s sells boots….custom and ready made. But they also sell fabulous clothes, handbags, jewelry, sterling silver buckles, and barware. They pride themselves finding small artisans to create special items to display and sell in the store. I had the ultimate pleasure of designing 4 custom saddles for a client back in 2019 and 2020. I was taken to the special floor in the upstairs of the building to the saddle department. Now I am afraid of horses so getting on a saddle is not in my wheelhouse…..but this saddle department blew my mind! You name it and they can do it. AMAZING!!!! It truly was one of the highlights of my professional career designing these saddles……and coming from a girl who wears kitten heels that is saying a lot! The experience of designing a custom boot and getting measured is also incredible treat. I had the pleasure of getting custom boots back in 2015 and I treasure them to this day. I walked all over New York City in them and my feet never hurt!!! They make me feel special every time I put them on. I have gifted my cousin Shelley and her husband with years worth of the custom barware they carry. Harrison owns custom boots and a custom belt buckle made with sterling and gold. He wore his Leddy’s jeans, white shirt, boots , and belt to the party and felt mighty fine! I wore my custom boots. We are truly Leddy’s customers and proud of it! If you have never been to the store…I highly recommend it. It is an experience you will never forget! The owner Wilson Franklin told Harrison and me a story about the tannery that they have been buying from in New Orleans for decades. When Hermes bought the tannery years ago they were cancelling the accounts of all previous customers…until they got to the Leddy’s account. Researching Leddy’s and what they create and their history…Hermes decided to allow Leddy’s to continue purchasing from the tannery. So you can purchase only Hermes handbags and Leddy’s boots with hides from this tannery. Now that IS REALLY SOMETHING!!!!!!!
I got to have my Riley home from San Diego for 10 whole days for the wedding and then the baby shower. She spent 5 hours on Saturday creating the flower arrangements for the tables. They were stunning! the shower was a huge success. I will share pictures very soon.
Happy last week of October and Happy Halloween! We get our hour back next Sunday!! Zippity Do Dah!!!
Have a super week!
The antique sign outside the store that they carefully maintain. A true sign of enduring excellance.
The invitation to the celebration.
The food was catered from Lonesome Dove and they had wonderful live music. Harrison and I got there only 20 minutes after it started…it was alrady packed!
The tents were set up in the parkig lot next to the store. The weather that night was perfect!
A view across the street from Leddy’s. They are in such a great location.
The food was outstanding!!!!!!
The custom boot room. The shelf high on the back wall houses all of the books of all of the customers they have measured for custom boots. What history!
They are creating a specisl series of custom boots to celebrate their century of making boots.
An example of one of the special boots in the series.
I went back through my pictures and found where I visited the saddle department for the first time.
This is custom tooling at it’s finest!
Older custom saddles that all had a story behind them.
One of the custom saddles I designed for my client.
A close up of the stirrup.
His initals done in sterling and gold. They came up with the monogram.
They had a great button man! I wore one of mother’s favorite jackets and her white turquoise necklace and earrings. Mother adored this party every year.
