Editor’s note: I call this one of my “traveling dresses” that I share with Riley. It is from Theory. Shoes are Vince Camuto.
Happy Wednesday! Today was our first Dallas day in a while..... it was fun to have the world wake up again and wish everyone a Happy New Year. We took Lacie Rue with us... and she got to show off her new raincoat that Mackenzie gave her for Christmas. She adored all of the attention she received in the Lee Jofa showroom! I worked on cleaning up and organizing my fabric room during the Christmas break... and worked with my trim and fabric books picking out fabrics for a current job. We picked up the loose samples today in Dallas that I sourced in my books. My fabric room tends to have babies like rabbits during the year when we receive new books but do not have immediate room to place them. I spent a day getting everything organized and it felt SO good to be able to use it like the real library that it is. One of the MAJOR benefits of my own studio is having the space for all I need. I love it!!!!!!
I have had some kind of fun reading all about the Cowboys and the upcoming playoff games. I am such a girly-girl that it surprises people that I know so much about football. The games this weekend will be so exciting to watch!!
Today’s article comes out of January/February issue of Flowers magazine. Reading this article was kin to reading an article about myself. Paige Sumblin Schnell has a very similar philosophy and approach to designing like I do. Neither one of like commercial work.....it is so much nicer to design for a family than for a board room of people. So much more personal. She also does not design vacation homes with themes like bears and horns in the mountains and fish by the ocean. She loves color.....as do I. I am known in the Design industry as a color person. Enjoy the rooms featured in this article that are examples of her work across the South. Happy first real “hump”day in the new year of 2019!!
The turquoise and orange in this bedroom explode with happiness!! This home is in Watersound Beach, Florida.
This home is in Alys Beach, Florida. How cool to have these gothic arches in the courtyard with flowering vines growing up the wall.
This living room in a home in Lake Martin, Alabama combines formal furniture with rustic beams. So clean, interesting, and pretty.
I love the huge windows in this kitchen in Nashville. The outside truly comes in!
The oversized clock and the electric yellow add punch and interest to this living room in Nashville. I have placed a rug very similar to this one except in turquoise before. I love the patchwork effect.
Yes please to this master closet!!!!! It truly feels like a small boutique where you would be shopping. Look at the ceiling....wow!!! What a talented lady after my own heart of design!

This is an aged steak that I purchased from this new (at least to me!) Resour named Steak Chop. They send restaurant quality beef, chicken, and seafood once every 5-6 weeks with access to recipes through an app from top chefs. I seared this in a frying pan with garlic oil and chopped garlic for about 2 minutes on each side then put it in the oven on 450 for 5 minutes. It was delicious!!!! The okra was steamed in chicken broth.
Love this song!
