Editor’s note: My outfit today is a dress from Carven and shoes from Coach.
Happy Wednesday! Happy 4th of July Eve! I am bummed that it is supposed to rain in the morning.... but then it is clearing off for all of the festivities. I am actually super happy that I am taking off for the weekend... this week has been nothing but problems . I am worn out with dealing with them all. A little R&R and the phone not ringing with fabrics issues, subs wanting to know something or schedule a time will be refreshing. Poor Lacie Rue has not done well since her surgery.... the vet today changed her meds. When one of my children (even 4-legged ones) are not doing well it makes all off balance......:( Sometimes when it rains it pours...... Murphy’s law. I am looking for the sun to come out!!!!!!!! Throwing out good vibes in the universe!!!!! I am presenting the tile and stone that I found on Monday to my clients this afternoon and getting the house measured for new counter tops and draperies. I am doing my best to move at lightening speed!!!!! So far I have not hit a snag in anything I have picked out... so there is one bit of good news that I will take and run with it!!!!!! It is always the right answer to look for silver linings!
The article today comes from the new issue of Elle DECOR. I read this at the pool on Sunday and loved this article on a Palm Beach house. Tom Scheerer and architects Peter Moore and Chris Baker helped this couple build a home that looked like it had been there for a long time and fit in the neighborhood. The house on the property was built in 1925 and was not worthy of remodeling. Scheerer had also done the couple’s horse farm in Wellington, Florida and a townhouse in New York. The vibe of this house is “informality” with a lot of attitude.... with every room getting used and no problem if sand comes in the house. Enjoy this happy beach home on this holiday week. Happy 4th of July! God Bless America!!!!!
What an incredibly deep loggia with great architectural details. The sofa and armchairs are from Walters and the lounge chairs from my favorite Janus et Cie. I love the use of the coral color... so happy and fresh! The mural from Frank Reijnen adds extra interest to the area.
This is the screened porch that the family actually uses to sleep occasionally . My best friend Beast sleeps on her huge deck in NYC quite often in good weather. I am a crisp sheet and air-conditioning girl myself....but to each their own!! The picky cypress ceiling is so cool....and I love the stag horn ferns on mounts used as art on the walls.
How much fun to add these Anglo-Indian Sete and slipper chairs into the equation . I little vintage mixed with new is always fun. I have never used Studio Four NYC for rugs.... bit I love this green rug! Of course I adore the Hermes tray on the ottoman..... give me Hermes and I am always delighted!
What a whimsical dining room!!! The hand-painted faux-bamboo fretwork by Brian Leaver is amazing.....adding SO much interest to the room. The rattan chairs and the Baughman chairs are vintage. The custom abaca rug is from Studio Four NYC. As much as I like this rug... and I really do.... i am so conservative I look at it and wonder how long it will last. Maybe I need to step out of my “practical” approach every once in a while!
The bunk room is “outfitted like a ship” with custom bunk beds. I love the bead board walls and the useful drawers under the beds. What a happy and compact room!
The master bath makes my heart sing REALLY big!!!!!! The tile walls from Villa lagoon Tile are fabulous and I love how hey tiles the ceiling. I am such a bath girl..... this would be a favorite spot for me!
Great breakfast room!!!! Love. Love the banquette and the color!!! The Saarinen table ( I never knew the name of this style table!) is paired with wicker chairs from the 1920s. The Ingo Maurer pendant is also vintage. Another great rug from Studio Four NYC. This would be such a happy home to spend weekends and holidays. Every room is another delight waiting to happen.
