Editor’s Note: Today I am in a lace blouse and dress shorts from Ann Taylor and Chanel shoes.
Happy Wednesday! Can you believe that half of June has flown by??? Seems to have in an instant! I think the heat is coming starting this week. I always say I would rather sweat than shovel snow!!! I like summer clothes and really don’t mind the heat until it gets over 100. The biggest bummer of the summer is that I cannot take my puppy in the car.... not even to the grocery store on Saturday morning. She is over 14 and must stay in the cool air. Lacie Rue is having her bath and message today and having “oral surgery” on Monday. Poor baby might not have any teeth left after this next round. But she is still happy and eating...so life goes on! We are blessed to be so busy right now... and even though I have a lot to accomplish in Dallas today there is still so much going on in the office. I am leaving Mrs. McLeod behind to man the fort in the office. I adore calling her Mrs. McLeod!!! She still has that honeymoon glow. I hung more art in my house that I installed in 2017... housed keep evolving as time goes on. I like clients to take breaks and let the house tell them what needs to be added next. Every layer just keep[s getting better!
The article today comes from the summer issue of Galerie magazine. I have had the issue for weeks now and this is my first article to cover since I took a break while Mrs. McLeod was getting married and going on her honeymoon. The talented Victoria Hagan created a contemporary home that seems to blend into the dunes surrounding. The property was “one of those won’t-come-along-again opportunities :an oceanfront site in Southampton bordered by protected dunes, pons, and wetlands .” Architecture firm Leroy Street Studio and Landscape architect Edmund Hollander help to create this 11,000 square foot home where a 1980s home once stood. The views are magnificent!!!!! Enjoy this magnificent vacation home and have a fabulous Hump Day!
The muted tones in this room are so soothing... and allow one’s eye to capture the view. I just finished a project where we took in an outdoor seating with all windows... and it feels like you are in the tree tops. This property with views from every angle is a piece of heaven on earth.....and the architect masterfully executed the home to take full Ada vantage. The painting over the fireplace is by Sean Scully and the sculpture over the sectional is by Ellsworth Kelly. I am using more and more sectionals in my design because of the seating it offers to a room. So gorgeous !!!!
This entry is so quiet... yet so powerful. The Bocci pendants are like floating pieces of art! This home is like “a gigantic jigsaw puzzle” with “very square inch” having a purpose to the overall design. The floors are gray French limestone pavers. So quiet and elegant.
A gray-gold Palestinian limestone was used for the exterior. The couple’s art collection is incredible! The sculpture on the front entrance is by Bernar Venet. This almost looks like an entrance to an art museum than a home. I love the offset stairs!
“The idea is that the house rises out of the dunes and is the same color but also has this transparency.” A quote from Morgan Hare who is a founding partner at Leroy Street Studio. This seating is unbelievable is every way. Planters on the terrace are filled with native wildflowers.
This covered dining terrace is one of the most used spaces in the house...and I can certainly see why! The opening above has retractable louvres so the space can transform due to the weather. The seating by Walters is so inviting and seats a great number of people. I think I would live out here!!!!!
Can you even imagine waking up to this view!!! It gives me goose bumps!!!! The home owners say they do not sleep late because they want to watch the sun rise. The chairs and ottoman are by Christian Liaigre.....incredibly stylish.
Since I am a bath lover.... this whole scene gives me great envy!!!!!!! My baths would have to last at least 30 minutes in this setting! The painting at the end of the room is by Roy Lichtenstein which gives a huge nod to the morning views. What a treat to cover this fabulous home. I will be thinking about the details for weeks to come.
