Editor’s note: Today my outfit is Carven ( one of my favorite NYC purchases!!!) and Jimmy Choo shoes.
Happy Friday!! After my oh so fun evening on Wednesday at the Jan Shower’s /Kravet dinner..... yesterday was a whirlwind!!!! It was one of those days where every second counted down to the last minute before I am a Lone Ranger for 2 weeks. On top of the crazy day I knew I would have wrapping things up with a bow with Mackenzie..... the electricians needed my lighting plan for the breakfast room in Arlington. I knew how far out I wanted the chandelier moved.... but I had not figured out exactly where I wanted the can lights added. This was a contractor surprise... something I think contractors take delight in.( Sorry if I have any readers who are contractors!) I persevered and got it done... even drove to the house and worked with the electrician. All is good.... but what a treadmill! As smart as I am... I am not good retrieving emails once they are lost in a thread . I think Mackenzie and I covered all bases until she returns brown as a berry and blissfully happy from her honeymoon.
The group of designers at the Kravet meeting and dinner for Jan Showers’ new collection were so delightful. I only knew two previously... and I made new friends. I adored hearing Jan Showers describe all of the new pieces and who she named them after. What a talented lady who has really returned the glam of the 1940s into our lives again in a beautiful way. Some of the pieces she copied from antiques she found in France... some were copied from a favorite piece at home. Some are just beautiful and in her elegant style. She worked closely with Kravet on the shapes, textures, and finishes. After working all day and keeping on like an energizer bunny into the night.....I had to pull myself away at 9:15 to drive home. I think I could have stayed another 2 hours visiting with my new friends. I was honored to be a part of the small group of talented designers. Here are pictures from the presentation and dinner. Enjoy...have a wonderful holiday weekend....and I will be back on June 10th. Until then—take care ! I am so looking forward to seeing Mackenzie marry her best friend !!!! That is the way it is supposed to be!!!!
The flowers in the showroom came out of the wife’s garden who owns the showroom with her husband. I am a jealous wreck that she has peonies and hydrangeas in her yard!!!! That is one of my dreams!
More stunning flowers from her garden. I think the white one is a miniature magnolia.
Here is Jan Showers (wearing fabulous Prada shoes!) talking about the collection. If my memory serves me right the bench she is sitting on —-they Kimberly bench—-was copied from a bench one of her friends owned. So stylish and functional. I have a real thing for benches and ottomans ...so I was all over this new introduction. The man standing is James Campbell who I have known since the 90s. To his left by the table is one of my new best friends Phillip Thomas Vanderford and to his right seated on a Kimberly bench is his partner Jason James...also one of my new best friends. I dined with them across from me and had a blast!
The draperies behind Jan Showers is one of her designs that Kravet brought to life. She showed Kravet a pillow she had with a feather design on the front. They came up with this stunning fabric!!!
One of the drawings in her pamphlet with the new collection. I love the sketch and the quote! This sofa is in the showroom... so gorgeous!!!
Another great sketch and quote. The legs on this chair are bronze......so cool!!
A group picture before dinner. Staring from the left is Carla Hrncir, Trish Sheats, Bill Cates, Jan Showers, John Marrs(one of my long time design friends!),ME, Jason James, and Phillip Thomas Vanderford. All so delightful !!!
The entrance to the restaurant . It is downtown ( not the easiest too get to... but wonderful!!!)
My rep Lauren who is also the daughter of the showroom owners. I sat across from her at dinner.
Our fabulous menu the chef prepared.
At the end of the table is the manager of the showroom Kevin Shortridge. He loves my Lacie Rue and keeps treats under his desk for her!!!
The lady on the right is Jan’s assistant and incremental in the design of the collection...Zara
I only had one bight of this decadent gruyere cheese puff——-heaven!!!
I have to admit that I had a piece of the bread.... one of the only times I allow myself if it is homemade in a restaurant. Divine!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the roasted chicken......I was transported to Paris.....SO FINE!!!!!!!
We all sat in a different seat after we finished the main course. The restaurant is beyond beautiful !!!!
The bar area is so chic!!!!! The restaurant is on the second floor so the view is amazing. What an incredible night! Thank you Kravet!!!!
Love this song!
