Editor’s note: Today I am wearing a blouse from Ann Taylor, skirt from J.Crew, and shoes from Manolo Blahnik.
Happy Friday!! Man oh man—-what a busy week!!! It was a double Dallas week for me. Mackenzie and I went on Wednesday and shopped for several jobs. Then I went back with a favorite client (I truly do have many favorite clients!!! Love my job!!!) to go rug shopping, source hardware, and design incredible floral arrangements with The Botanical Mix in the World Trade Center. We spent 2 hours designing for a pair of black and gold vintage wooden containers, a stone head with an open top, a large vintage brass container, and another black and gold oval container. This Uber talented showroom has silk & dried flowers and integrates minerals into the designs. We had SO MUCH FUN designing in there!!!! I cannot wait to see them finished!!
This weekend has some big football games with TCU playing Ohio State in Jerry’s World and LSU playing Auburn. Sorry Adison—- but I will be rooting for LSU!!! These both should be fantastic games! I am scared to watch the Cowboys play the Giants on Sunday. Boy oh boy do I hope they play better than last week.........
The forecast is showing for more rain this weekend . Hopefully I can go on my walk in between showers. My thighs hurt so badly from my stair and lunge workout that today was the first day that it was not hard to get out of the bathtub!!! Maybe I should add a little stairs in before my walk... obviously those muscles are not being used enough.
The article today is from the September issue of House Beautiful. This house on Lake Michigan was rebuilt on the property that has been handed down through generations. They built this house to sleep as many as 22 people!!!!! Designer Dana Small got to design here own vacation home after doing so for many other clients. Her signature blue-and-white with a lot of stripes can be seen all over the house. You gotta love a family that makes every Monday margarita day!!!! Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!!
The house truly has an open door policy. What a happy entrance with a play on many blues. The pair of wicker barrel chairs came from the original house. The rug from Serena & Lily starts the party at the door.
This bleached-wood table can seat up to 14. Dana Small loves to cook and entertain! I love the blue pendants from E.M. Soberon.
The umbrellas from Santa Barbara Designs at the two tables truly set the tone. This is a FUN house!!! Love, love the awnings by Muskegon Awning & Fabrication. What a precious house!!!
Vintage settees are out on the main living porch. And of course are done in a stripe!!!
Small does not like drywall.... so all surfaces are either covered in wood , tile, or wallpaper . The beams in this living area are reclaimed-wood. Love the cool driftwood mirror over the mantel. My grandmother One Momma would say this is a conversation piece.
There are two kitchens in the house....this lady loves to cook!!! This cabana kitchen is close to the waterside. The blue-and -white tile form Sabine Hill is stunning carried up to the ceiling.
Precious dining area in the cabana kitchen with the banquettes done in a white demoin slipcover. I love the table with the wood top salvaged from the former home. The wonderful tile carries into this area. So happy!!!
The claw foot tub tucks in nicely next to the window in the master bath.
This is the “provisions parlor.” This room is stocked with everything you would need to have fun at the vacation house. I love China Seas pattern repeated from the ceiling to the roman shade in the window.
This is one of three bunk rooms. Love the fact that they are queen size!!! The green floor painted in Benjamin Moore’s Spring Leaf sets the tone for a cheery guest room. Note the double roman shades on the window behind the bunk beds. The bedding is from Roller Rabbit. Precious!!
This is the son’s room. The star of the room is the bold stripe form Ralph Lauren going in all sorts of directions. The bedding is from Roller Rabbit—- who I have never used but am sure to look up!! The cool wall behind the bed is made of leftover flooring.
What a fabulous house to enjoy now and for generations to come!!!

Happy Friday everyone!
My dinner last night was left over bacon wrapped filet and salmon with lentils form Central Market.
Love this song!
