Editor's note: Today I am wearing a top from Vince, skirt from Kenzo, and shoes from Vince Camuto.
Happy Friday! Another week in the books as we wind down summer. I cant believe that next weekend is Labor Day and the end of the pool and all that comes with summer relaxation. Time to gear up for fall!!!!! I think one of the most frustrating things about fall in Texas is that it is just as hot as summer but we are supposed to switch to fall clothes....... I am trying too wear my white dresses before the opportunity is gone. Today I have on one of my favorite easy, breezy summer outfits with some of my favorite Vince Camuto sandals (I loved them so much that I bought them in every color!!) In two weeks the fall colors will appear.... but so will football!!!! We have a lot of clients calling to start freshening up rooms. This always happens in September— I think an alarm bell goes off that Christmas and family gatherings are just around the corner. I have seen every fabric vendor to see the newest collections—— so I am armed and ready with the knowledge of what is new and fresh in my industry. I have also learned about incredible fabrics that are either so reasonable or are already treated with the Crypton treatment that makes the fabric impervious to liquid. All of a sudden white sofas are not scary!!!!!! This chemical is revolutionary and has changed the fabric and design world for the better!!
Today’s article comes from the new issue of Veranda. The home of Maureen Footer— who is the author of the new book “Dior and his Decorators: Victor Grandpierre, Georges Geffroy , and The New Look”—- is “as clean and airy as the Dior couture salons.” It says in the article that Dior and Grandpierre often worked with the colors of Sevres porcelain pieces—- and Maureen took this lead and amped up the colors. Her painter even scratched his head a few times! I think the apartment looks like a wonderful jewel box. The 8 room apartment is in a 1922 new-Georgian building with a view of the Guggenheim Museum. WOW— I am sure that is amazing. Enjoy this gorgeous apartment and have a super weekend!
What an elegant lady!!
Printer’s proofs of the pages in her new book.
Oh my—- now this is a bold color on the wall!! But doesn’t it take your breath away!! It says “let’s have a party!” To me. The green walls are repeated in the lamp on the desk and pillows on the sofa. Beyond that it is simply a wow factor for the rest of the room to come alive in. The corals, yellows, and blues explode against the green.
More saturated color in the dining room with the bold tangerine leather dining chairs and the ballon shade. I love the ballon shades by the way in the living and dining—- i never stopped liking this style of drapery. The large tapestry consumes the entire wall. The mixture of some modern furniture along with the antiques is a fun contrast.
The apartment is filled with things and furniture that Maureen collected all over the world. Here in the library with the beautiful creased-oak paneling lives a Chinese chest and a Sultanabad rug collected from her travels. I love how tight this space is and the cozy upholstery. Note the lighting above the bookcases as well as the swing arm lamps. I bet this is magical at night.
Custom leather shelf edging is in every bookshelf. What a glorious addition to the room.
What a stunning moment!!! The wall color is the entry looks like sunlight in the room and truly sets off the gilded console. The wallpaper in the butler’s pantry is custom and was inspired by Armand-Albert Rateau.
Gracie wallpaper turns any room in top an elegant affair!!! How gorgeous is this room!!!! The white, soft pink, and the green bedside lamp compliment but play second fiddle to the Gracie.
This makes me smile!! This is a custom hat from New York milliner Suzanne Newman resting on an 18th-century marble bust. What a perfect spot!!
The perfect accessories for an elegant lady! Manolo Blahnik heels, custom hat amongst the hat boxes, and a pair of leather evening gloves. I love the last line of the article—-“ Coming home to my French furniture and far-flung artifacts allows me to relive life’s voyage, and its discoveries, anew.” I would say coming home to this fabulous apartment would make anyone’s heart sing!

I couldn't agree more!
My dinner last night was baked cod with crab cake and hatch chili sauce paired with caprese salad.
