Editor's note: Today I am wearing a dress from Carven and shoes from Kate Spade.
Happy Thursday !! It is so exciting to have my Riley at work with us today!! She flew in early this morning ... dropped her bag at home... and came into work. Mackenzie and I are having a “doggie” experiment having both Lacie Rue and Layla here at work at the same time today. So far so good!!!! It is a happy Kay Genua Designs studio with two dogs and my Riley!! Oh happy day!!! We are all working at our desks and the dogs are for the most part snoozing. I love having my own office!!!!!!! This day is such a joy!!! Yesterday was a busy multi-tasking day in Dallas —-there never seems to be enough time. Even though I adore living in Fort Worth... it sure would be convenient to pop in showrooms quickly if I lived in Dallas. But I have been there and done that...I will keep my Fort Worth! The Apparel Mart was going on yesterday— so zero parking at The World Trade Center. Mackenzie had to drop me off. Momma Kay does not park offsite and take shuttle buses...........not today, yesterday ,or tomorrow. Not my style and a total waste of time. Mackenzie returned fabrics while I did my rug shopping. When I was done she came and picked me up—-now that is my style!!!
The article today is from the new Traditional Home. This home in Fayetteville, Arkansas is designed to be full of “comfort, sunlight, and fresh air.” With the help of designer Melissa Haynes this couple who are both doctors realized their dream. The intent on the home and the design is for it to be perfect for their three girls and hopefully to accommodate their future families for years to come. The house is a great of fresh air! Enjoy and have a super Thursday!
The house has a lot of cream, beige , and soft tones. The dining room adjoins to the living room... and there is one large will rug that spans the space to give continuity . The living area has an Aubusson rug on top of the cream wool rug to help define the space. I love the soft minty greens used in the fabrics, art, and Murano glass lamp.
They wanted the home to have timeless architecture. This foyer could easily be in a home that is 100 years old. So elegant! Note the curls on the iron railing that swep across at the end of the stairs— such a cool detail.
In m y opinion you can never go wrong with a gorgeous antique piece. Here in the vestibule an antique Biedermeier secretary sits next to an antique gilded chair. Beautiful.
The Georgian-style exterior is timeless.
These dining room chairs make my heart sing big!!! The shape is so feminine !! I am a huge symmetry girl— so I adore the pair of Gracie panels over the matching consoles and lamps. So elegant!
n the masculine and dark paneled library.. they forgo the traditional sofa and two chair setting for four chairs facing one another. This is something I am doing more and more of in a man’s setting. I think men like their own space. Beautiful and cozy.
The family room is a joined to the kitchen— and has plenty of seating for TV and football watching. Sectionals allow for such great seating in a room.. I use them often. I love the coloration in here with the soft blue highlights. The coffered ceiling is lovely.
This pink girl’s room is so dreamy!!!!!!! I love the fabric from Harlequin repeated all over the room. Precious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have used this wallpaper before—- so fun and full of color and whimsey!! What a happy bathroom!
Beautiful family outside their gorgeous new home. What dreams are made of!
This is another girl’s room done in a sophisticated lavender. I LOVE draping beds... so these bedrooms are right down my lane. The animal print desk chair adds sass!
