Editor's note: Today I am wearing a top from Elie Tahari, skirt from Anthropologie, belt from Colehaan, and shoes from Frances Valentine.
Happy Tuesday! I had the BEST time... but I am so happy to be back. Of course every second that I get to spend with my Riley is precious ... but we both needed to get back to work. Riley left me around 9:30 yesterday to take on the Task Rabbit men on my own. The first man was on time to install the two drapery panels. Only problem was he did not speak much English. Oh my.... I made it work. Riley has this really strange window between her room and the living room with an ugly shutter on the living room side. Reminded me of the TV show Green Acres. So we covered it up with a pair of panels on her room side that match her other draperies and a drapery panel from my old house on the living room side. It is not my ordinary custom work—- but it works great to conceal the weird window. The table I bought her in April is finally in place to create a dining space and the loveseat moved into her bedroom. The Task Rabbit man who I hired to move the sofa was over an hour late.. causing much stress. The Uber driver Riley got me had to park the car on the side of 31st and run to meet Riley to give her the key to her apartment— traffic was at a standstill. Incredible that he did that for us!!! Riley passed him my chicken salad she bought for me—- and I was off to the airport. The plane was an hour late taking off—- boy could I have used one more hour in Riley’s apartment. But I got my task done and all is well!
Today I am showing pictures from the party in East Hampton. It was amazing!!!!l Listening to symphony music seated around the pool next to a plethora of flowers was something like in a movie set. Dinner was served in single servings of various dishes that were passed. Then came dancing in the basement —-we danced for over three hours and closed the place down. Beast requested many of the songs we danced to at Studio 54 in the late 70s. It felt like we were in our late teens in college all over again dancing the night away.... except this time her two children and my Riley were on the dance floor with us. Pure magic!!!!!! Enjoy the pictures and have a fabulous day!!!!!
Here I am leaving our Air B&B. My hair has not transformed yet in the humid beach air. It did NOT look like this by the end of the night!! My dress is by Trina Turk and the sandals are by J Crew.
The outside of the house were we attended the party.
We brought flowers for the host that we bought at a local florist. Here are Riley and her three work friends.... and a man who did not get the dress code down very well.......
Me with Beast. There was a man next to her when I found her and of course we were so excited to see one another. The man said..... this must be the best friend. I asked him how did he know... was it my accent or my big hair?? He said no—- it was how excited I was to see her.
The symphony was setting up on the corner of the veranda.
The whole veranda was lined with blue hydrangeas. Simply stunning!!!! Chairs were set up on the veranda for the guests to be seated during the performance. This group travels all over the world . They were so fine!!!!!
Riley and me looking out on their side of the house. The gardens were true cutting gardens of flowers. I would be in HEAVEN cutting flowers for arrangements here!!!!
Riley and her friends Becca, Colleen, and Nicole. I had a blast staying with them. They all called me Momma Kay.
The smaller house to the side is a guest house.
Momma Kay and her girls.
I was one of the first to hit the dance floor with Riley. After about 20 minutes the room was full. Riley and I danced the entire time they played!!!!! I was some kind of sore in the morning...... but full of happy memories.
Some of the variety of food passed at the party- a fabulous dinner!
