Editor's Note: Today I am wearing a top from Vince, skirt from H&M, and shoes from Vince Camuto.
Happy Tuesday! The heat wave is supposed to break for the day today... and hopefully will be gone come Saturday. I have kept Palm Springs on my weather app since I did my job there..... and there have been moments last week where we beat them! Oh my!!! Day 5 of getting the stitches out. This ointment that they have had me use....Bacitracin Zinc Ointment...is amazing stuff!! It is like a Neosporin with an extra punch! Happy Birthday to my best friend Beast today ( her real name is Elizabeth Beier.) We have been best friends since we were 12 years old. I am so excited to get to see her this weekend!!!!!! I took Harrison when he was 10 to New York with me to see her and to do “ guy stuff” in New York. We stayed with Beast so we got to spend a lot of time with her. When we said goodbye on the subway platform... Harrison looked at me and asked why I was crying. I told him it is always hard to say goodbye. He thought for a second... then said he knew why I was crying—— because she is SO COOL!!!! I called Beast’s landline ( I don’t think we had cell phones back then) and told her what Harrison said. She kept the message on her machine for weeks! Best friends are a true gift.
The article today comes from the March/April issue of Southern Home. I am still covering this issue.... there were so many great articles. This River Oaks makeover in Houston is full of vibrant color— the husband is from Shreveport so some Mardi Gras colors enter into play. The couple have 4 children ages 2 to 13.. so the home needed to be family friendly as well as party ready to entertain. Designer Ashley Goforth .. who went to Memorial High School with the wife..did a magnificent job. Enjoy and have a Super Tuesday.
The vibrant green velvet sofa picks up the colors in the art above the mantel and sofa. The fun Pierre Frey pillows have a tick of the Mardi Gras colors requested. Beautiful cocktail table.
Beautiful antique daybed reupholstered in a Perennials fabric to be more user friendly. I love the pockets formed above the windows for the draperies. So clean and crisp.
Antique chairs in the foyer get a dash of purple in a Kravet velvet. I love the juxtaposition of the modern art above the antique chest.
Love, love, love this apple green in the dining room!!!!! The piece of modern art and the blue and white accessories on the table gleam against the green grass cloth clad walls.
The library is a nod to SMU where the couple met . The walls are done in a blue lacquer from Fine Paints of Europe. A warm and cozy space for tv and ballgame watching.
The family room off the kitchen is done in a softer lavender and green palette. The sectional provides for great seating for a family of 6.
I never grow tired of an all white kitchen. The chrome gleams against the Calacutta marble and white cabinets.
More lavender in one of the daughter’s bedrooms. The lower headboard on the 4-poster bed allows light to come in through the window behind.
Beautiful Greek key treatment on the bottom of the roman shade—- and is repeated on the loveseat in the corner in a pillow. The fluffy chair has great attitude!
Beautiful custom headboard and dust ruffle in a Jane Churchill fabric. Darling beds side table from Bungalow 5.
What a great boy’s room with the red-lacquered bed with built in storage! Love, love the carpet!!!
Such soft coloration in the master! The hand-painted panel that sets the tone is by Griffin & Wong. The draperies and the antique bench at the foot of the bed are so lovely.
Great reading spot on front of the draperies. The all white with the touch of celadon is so soothing and elegant.
Well planned built in desk area of the master. Love that chair with the monogram on the back.
There is nothing like calacutta marble everywhere in a bathroom. So clean and crisp! Beautiful fixture over the tub.
