Happy Thursday !! It has turned out to be a crazy Thursday in June—— and the last one of the month. Please someone slow the freight train down!!!! I cannot believe July 4th is next week!! We had a meeting this morning on site to go over a kitchen remodel finalizing all of the tile, paint, counter, hardware, and cabinets. I am planning on some custom rugs to go in the dining and living room after the floor is replaced. Remember how I said all of these vendor meetings make me armed with knowledge? We were just presented a line of rugs that can be custom made from Holland & Sherry two weeks ago— and the ideas are already swirling around in my head. I can envision what I want in these two rooms along with new draperies. The other kitchen remodel is under way— they are ripping and snorting as we speak!!! I planned the breakfast room yesterday and sent Adison to color match paint to what I want. When the contractor says go-man-go I have to move fast! I managed to find 30 minutes after my morning meeting to buy a new TV for our downstairs game room since Harrison took his with him. Riley gets home tonight from New York for our family reunion — and of course Momma Kay has to make everything perfect for her baby. That is just what I do!
Today’s article comes from Veranda. I have heard Veere Grenney’s name for years but have never had one of his jobs in my blog. His taste level is exquisite. This property is in Mustique where rock royalty like Mick Jagger and David Bowie have partied with royalty with people like Princess Margaret for years. The getaway called” Obsidian” was designed by the architect Oliver Messel in the 70s for society photographer Patrick Lichfield. The current owners bought the property when Lichfield passed away in 2005. Grenney had to replace every window and every piece of timber with more durable hardwood alternatives. He kept the “sensibility “of the property with the wicker and treillage. This home is like a breath of fresh air—- perfect for a hot summer’s day in June. Enjoy and have a super day.
The houses of Mustique offer privacy and are old-fashioned and very English in design. What a precious entrance! I love all of the detailing at the roofline and the dormer up top.
Oh my—- this living room!!!! That ceiling!!! This room would be gorgeous empty. The custom wicker furniture is by Soane Britain as are the chesterfield sofas. The all white with touches of blue is stunning.
What a stunning pool and terrace!!!! Yes please and thank you !!
This is the billiard room. The antique Hamilton billiard table was given new life painted white. I love the stone wall against all of the other white. Of course I love the banquette in the corner—-I adore banquettes!!!
The mosquito nets are the perfect brilliant white to match the antique linens. I love old linens— they are always incredibly soft and lovely. Beautiful all white room with the stripe going down the middle of the chair and ottomans as the accent. I love the headboard on the bed. Lovely master bedroom.
The lattice work on the walls in this guest room is outstanding!!!!!! The wicker lamp is by Soanne Britain. Love the small touches of pink in this room.
This dining room with the pitched roof and the lattice work is SO happy!!! Your wicker dining table and chairs by Soane Britain ( this company in London was busy on this job!!!) were designed from vintage design. Bravo Veere Grenney for creating a fresh design that looks like it has been here for decades.
