Editor's note: Today I am wearing a dress by Opening Ceremony and shoes from Banana Republic.
Happy Friday!!! 25 years ago I was very busy in the hospital awaiting the arrival of my twins . They took their sweet time deciding to come meet the world.....over 12 hours. It was a long day to say the least— but boy were they worth the wait! I did not know what I was having.....I wanted that carrot to get me to the end. I was blessed with a boy and a girl who have brought me immense joy for 25 years. Happy Birthday to Riley and Harrison!! You mean the world to me!!!! This is the first year that I am not with Riley on her birthday... but I have been away from Harrison for years. Riley has big plans with friends coming into New York and we are taking Harrison to dinner at Bonnell’s tomorrow. It will be a big weekend!
I had the great pleasure of having Scott Kravet come to my studio this morning. What an honor!!! His presentation yesterday in the Dallas showroom was beyond fascinating and the fabrics were fabulous . He talked about where the ground cloths come from and the mills across the world that produce the prints. Mackenzie, Adison, and I were all enthralled. I continue to learn something new about my industry every day.
Today’s article comes from the new issue of Veranda. The very talented Suzanne Kasler creates the perfect interiors to go with the house that took the home owners 5 years to find. They wanted a one story house that was not elevated— which is now required by zoning laws in southwest Florida. They finally found the right one in Naples that’s was worth renovating. Enjoy this breath of fresh air in a vacation home and have a super weekend!!
The amazing outdoor space . With the help of architect Rob Herscoe there was a new “array” of outdoor rooms created. Wide open doors and retractable screens allow the outside to blend seamlessly with the interiors. Beautiful furniture from Janus et Cie surrounds the pool and the dining table and chairs is from McKinnon and Harris.
This room takes my breath away! So fresh and happy. The home owners talked about how they have admired contemporary art for years but never had the right place to buy it foe. Voila! This house was the perfect opportunity . The piece they purchased for the dining room by Peter Burega is flanked by sconces by Michael Taylor . The dining table is also by Michael taylor design surrounded by chairs by Susanne Kasler for Hickory chair. The pops of pink and turquoise are fantastic.
A larger view of the great room. The living area continues the theme of white with pops of color. The art above the mantel by Kikuo Saito helped to drive the design for the room.
The Design Fournir chairs done in a Rose Cummings stripe look so lovely in the all white entry. Kasler used accessories from the ocean where she could in the house. Here there is a shell mirror and coral displayed underneath on the console by Gustav Carroll.
The beautiful and bold print from China Seas used in this bedroom in abundance is so dramatic. I love how she used the same pattern but a different color way for the pillow on the bed. The bed linens are from Hamburg House—- one of my favorite lines. It adds such a personal touch to a room. With the doors opening up to the lanai..... this is a moment no one would want to leave. Just an all in all outstanding house!!!!
The onyx counter by Waterworks is STUNNING!!!!! Combined with Gracie wallpaper and an antique mirror from John Rosselli——- this room is spectacular!

Scott Kravet in my studio with the wall dedicated to Kravet, Lee Jofa, and Brunschwig & Fils behind us.
Taken the night of Riley’s debut with Steeplechase. Harrison is now a member of Steeplechase... as was my father and brother.
Riley and Harrison before graduation. Their choice of universities could not have been a better choice for each of them.
Riley and Harrison when they were about 6 months old. I remember taking this picture—-I had to prop them up and run back to get the picture before they fell over. You can tell Harrison is about to slide to the left..... I loved dressing them in matching outfits when they were little!
Dinner last night was Asian salad with ground bison meat, fresh tomato, and avocado.
