Happy Wednesday! We are off to Dallas today—- boy I will be looking for shade to park my car when I can. We get in and out of the car so often.... every 10 degrees I can save is worth it! One of our stops today is the new Room and Board store on Knox/Henderson. I am excited to see it in person! There are some things I found on line that I want to “test drive” in person. We are also going to sit in some outdoor furniture at Restoration Hardware. As long as we are in the neighborhood we will have to go to one of my favorite antique stores in Dallas—- Nick Brock. We have a vendor meeting with George Spencer Designs at Holland and Sherry in the morning. Busy day—-knowledge is power and I am always up for the latest and greatest that is in my industry. We got to install the new draperies, shower curtain, duvet, pillows, and master chairs at one of my clients’ house yesterday. Everything turned out stunning! We got it all done before they returned from a 3 week trip in the late afternoon —- I would have loved to have been a “fly on the wall” to see the reaction to all of the newness in the house. I truly get the same thrill every time I do an install. Have I mentioned lately that I love my job!!!!!!
Today I am covering Marc Jacobs’ home in New York as seen in the extra small addition on celebrities that came out his month in Architectural Digest . This incredible townhouse in Greenwich Village is stunning. Marc Jacobs has such spectacular taste... I would expect nothing less from his home. Enjoy and have a great Wednesday . It’s Hump Day!!!
Wow!! This TV room is amazing. The cocktail table is a Gracie lacquer piece—- I died not know this option was out there. Gorgeous!!!!! The sculpture on the left was done by Paul McCarthy. The painting above the custom Jonas sofa is by Richard Prince. The brass Gabriella Crespi table truly gleams. The upholstery all looks so comfortable and inviting—- as a TV room should.
The entry of the four-story townhouse. I love the armoire at the end of the room with the mirrored panels on the doors. I am so happy to see armoires used so much again.... I never fell out of love with them. The levels of molding on the ceiling is architecturally subtle and beautiful.
The large piece of art by Urs Fischer adds so much drama to the dining room. The sleek Jacques Quinet table and chairs are antique— fabulous juxtaposition to the piece of art. The ceiling detail looks metallic—-so lovely.
What a gorgeous color on the walls in this bedroom! The smoker mirrored wall behind the bed gives a wonderful dimension to the room. I love the piece of art that tells a story about a blind date. The draperies are mounted on ceiling hardware...what a great way to shut out all of the light!!! The bedspread dropping all the way to the floor is throwback.... but looks so fresh.
Gorgeous living room with the mirrored inset areas on either side of the fireplace with matching consoles. Oh how I love symmetry in a room!! The 1962 Ellsworth Kelly painting looks so grand over the custom-made mica mantel. The Diego Giacometti bronze stools upholstered in orange are stunning. The black in the room bounces perfectly from the sconces over the consoles.. to the Jean Dunand lacquer cocktail table... then back to the fireplace.
Oh wow—- this toad and lily pad sculpture by Francois-Xavier Lalanne make such a fine statement in the garden. The mirrored stainless-steel column by John McCracken on the right reflects the spiral stairs. What an oasis in New York!!!
Such an elegant master bathroom. The Eugene Printz ceiling light is quiet and commanding at the same time. The addition of the 19th-century urns on the lacquered cabinets that are reflected in the mirrors over vanities is so elegant. The marble used on the walls, tub, and vanities is beyond rich. What a jewel box of a home in New York!!!!
