Happy Friday!!! Big weekend ahead!! Memorial Day and The Colonial Golf Tournament. We are going to see the new Star Wars movie tomorrow . Harrison said that fans don’t love it—- but I still want to go. I am planning on going to the pool—wearing a lot of sunblock since I have such Lilly white skin. I love the sound of summer at the pool with the children’s laughter and the splashing. Except for the heat... summer really is my favorite time of the year. The pace is slower... which I think we all need to recharge our batteries. I have already come up with projects at home to get my sense of accomplishment in. I have to feed my type A personality.......... Mackenzie is moving today and Adison and I are getting as much done before the showrooms close for the long weekend. It is always a race!!!
The article I chose today is perfect leading off to a holiday weekend. Patrick Perrin and his family of 6 built an amazing compound in Comporta—A jet-set resort town an hour south of Lisbon. The family visited the town with another couple and fell in love with the town. Within a few months they had secured a nine acre pine filled piece of land—which they named Quinta dos Pinheiros...pine farm. Perrin.. who is a fourth-generation French art dealer... wanted this family compound to have a local vibe. A far cry from life on Faubourg Saint-Honore in Paris, he hired a team of local builders, designers from Toulouse, and landscape architects from Belgium. The result is so beautiful and fresh.
Enjoy and have a fabulous and safe holiday weekend!
This private family resort is made up of small buildings dedicated to specific uses—-living room, kitchen, dining room, bedrooms, etc. This pool area is fantastic—the outdoor loggia with it’s wraparound banquette and bar area would fit in at any luxury hotel. I love the thatched roof!!! The chaise lounges that sit on the ground are so cool!
This is a dressing room——oh my!!!! How cool!!!!!! The closet doors have custom-braided rattan panels. Now that is one unique dressing room. I love the hats everywhere!!!!!!
I have been dying to do I a bunk room at a client’s house—- I think they are incredible and full of whimsey for small children. The whole house is done in soothing colors of white and rattan. My favorite parts of this room are the light fixture and the floor lamp. LOVE.
This living room just screams vacation. So comfortable and laid back. The rattan chandelier from Chatham is so unique and helps set the vibe for the room as well as the fabulous beams.
Another incredible ceiling in the kitchen. The over size pendants are from Nelson Sepulveda. The collection of ceramic crabs and lobsters hung climbing the wall is fabulous!!! I also love the collection of mirrors used as art.
This Portuguese compound is made up of six buildings. Designers Daniel Suduca and Thierry Merillou also have homes in the village.... so they knew the exact feeling to help create.
Reed-framed mirrors from the 1960s and 1970s are also used as art in this guest room similar to the kitchen. This keeps the room very natural and ethereal but still adds interest. Note there are no TVs....................
How much fun to have horses to ride at the family resort. This picture is precious. (I would not be riding horses since I am scared to death of them. But this still is a great picture!!!)
The outdoor dining room. I love the way the sheers are tied onto the rings and the open slated roof. Perrin is a huge cook and gets the guests involved in preparation. They buy the fish and vegetables at the local market in the afternoon after enjoying breakfast in town. They ride bikes through the forest and on the beach when the tide is low. What a magical place for a family to relax and reconnect after the hectic pace of Paris.
