Editor's note: Today I am wearing a cream sweater from Searle, cropped wool pants from J Crew, and Hermes scarf, and kitten heels from Chanel.
Happy Friday! Super Bowl weekend is coming up!! My cousin who I am helping in Dallas is having a party of 85 this Sunday!! That is a lot of party goers!! She said neither team interests the crowd this year— so they will live for the commercials. We are having a quiet watching party at home with my home made chili. I cook it in the morning and let is simmer all day in the crock pot. The longer it cooks— the better it gets. They were having a chili cook off at Winslows Sunday night— where I got the idea to cook mine. I have not made it in two years— I am looking forward to it! I will post the recipe on Monday’s blog. It is not hard—- just has to simmer a long time. It was fun to read in the paper this morning that one of the players for the Eagles played for TCU. What a great story! I will be looking for him on the offensive line. Just love it when one of our TCU boys makes it big in the NFL. Now that the basketball is getting so hot— I bet we see some TCU players headed to the NBA soon!
The article I am featuring today I found in Veranda. This current issue is so good—- I will write about the final article in this issue next week. I loved them all. This pied-a-terre in New York was designed by Daniel Romualdez for a couple from Palm Beach. He had previously refreshed a room in the owner’s primary house in Palm Beach— and they knew he would be perfect for this Upper East Side apartment makeover. I l;over reading about his philosophy on working with a client—how his client’s homes “ reflect their personal aesthetic, not his.” I feel exactly the same way . I pride myself in designing all of my homes to reflect my clients , their taste, and their collections. Daniel did a fabulous job on this apartment — such a talented man. Happy Friday. Happy weekend, happy Super Bowl Sunday!!!!!!
A view from the living room into the dining room. This pair of custom mirrors from Eve Kaplan are divine!!!!!!!! The living room was painted in several shades of white—- so soft and soothing. This wall is in White Dove from Benjamin Moore. The dining table and the chandelier are both custom. This gives the job such a personal touch. The sconces from 1970 flank the piece of art from Enoc Perez in a perfect way.
What a stunning moment in the living room. The custom sofas are done in a Rose Cummings silk satin— so glamorous! I love how the touches of gold carry your eye around the room— from the sofa base.. to the fire place screen... to the mirrors.. back to the swing arm lamps. Just like jewelry .
This stunning room carries onto another seating area with a custom sofa done in a Lee Jofa velvet with trims from Samuel & Sons and Cowtan and Tout. Gorgeous!!!!!!! The piece of art over the sofa from Pat Steir is quiet but commanding. I love the mixture of the styles of tables used in the room—- adds so much interest.
Wow!!! All of the elements in this entry hall take my breath away! The juxtaposition of the LXVI chairs next to that gold console is fantastic.
Such an incredible study. That zebra carpeting creates a great wow factor along with the vintage Billy Baldwin slipper chairs reupholstered in a Zimmer+Rohde fabric. The article says that Daniel was given a lot of antiques to work with—but the client wanted the overall effect to be “modern, not stuffy.” Daniel did a magnificent job.
Beautiful master in every way. I love the palette of blue, cream ,and taupe . So soothing and elegant after a hectic day in the city. As much as I love this entire room—- my favorite element is the walls. The article does not say if this is a wall paper or a fabric—- but it is gorgeous!
