Editor’s note: Today I am wearing a blouse from Ann Taylor, skirt from Banana Republic, and shoes from Manolo Blahnik.
Happy Wednesday!! The countdown is on!!! Christmas is in less than a week! Are you ready? Except for braving the grocery store this weekend so I can cook.... I think I am there. I still have some presents to deliver that I will get done before Friday . They are all close by so all will be good. My Riley comes home tonight... I am so excited! I will pick up flowers for a client tomorrow from the wholesale showroom and pick up mine on Friday. Besides cooking on Saturday I will be placing roses all over the house. They should be opened and gorgeous by Christmas Day. Riley always brings such joy to the house when she comes home. She will be working from my studio tomorrow and Friday which is also fun. She sets up shop at the end of the big dining table in my fabric room and hits it all day on her computer. I love the fact that she can work from home —- it allows her to come home more often and stay. Lacie Rue just might have to wear her new raincoat tomorrow to show off for Riley! My drapery and upholstery workroom has made dreams come true for my clients this week delivering dining chairs and draperies just in time for the big day. I am thankful and grateful for how hard they work. I am giving Mackenzie the week off next week so after this Friday there will not be a blog until Friday January 4th. We are both going to a wedding in New Orleans for New Years and she is staying with her family a few days after . It should be an incredible wedding!!!! The world will wake up from the festive holidays the first week of January and 2019 will be underway!!!
The article today comes from the December issue of Elle Decor. Designer Palmer Weiss designed this cedar-shingled home with architect David Hogan in Lake Tahoe to look and feel like it has been there for some time. With a mixture of antiques from North Carolina blended with new the house has a great patina. Enjoy this snowy, beautiful setting just perfect for the week before Christmas. We don’t get much snow in Texas for Christmas.... but we can dream. Have a super day!
What a winter wonderland setting!!!! I love this architecture!!!!!! This vacation retreat is in Martin’s Camp which is a 2177-acre gated community in Lake Tahoe. Gorgeous!!!
Wonderful and warm setting in the husband’s study. The A. Rudin sofa done in a Donghia velvet has such attitude. The cocktail table is from Made Goods... one of my favorite vendors.
This outdoor dining area has quote the view!!! I don’t imagine they are dining in the snow..... but this picture is stunning. The ceiling is made of clear cedar and the columns ate wrapped in stained Douglas Fir.
What a fabulous hickory-and-cane bed from Rusticks in the master bedroom. I love the all paneled room and ceiling! The tall window above the bed adds drama. Such a lovely and cozy room enveloped in the wood!
The kitchen backsplash is from Exquisite Surfaces... so beautiful. I love the crisp white cabinets and the soft gray. The owner’s daughter painted the art on the left.....i love it when parents value the artwork of their children! I have some of Riley’s art all over the house! The beams are reclaimed barn wood which adds great patina to the room.
Great , cozy seating arrangement in the living room around the fireplace. I hate to say it out loud.... but I am glad there is no tv( at least that I can see.) there is a lot of value in spending time talking or reading in a magnificent room like this. I love the Katie Leeds fabric that is used on the full draperies and the chairs by Lee Industry. The touch of green and pink in the all natural room is lovely.
This powder room is FABULOUS!!!!!! The wallpaper is by Trustworthy Studios...such sass!!! It is a reproduction of a 19th-century C.F.A. Voysey Arts and Crafts design. The vanity by Bradley is fantastic. Note that he mixed a gold mirror with chrome fittings. I have so many clients that think you have to be a purist..... I love mixing it up. What an incredible house. Job well done!

My dinner last night was a hamburger patty and grilled asparagus.
Love this song!
