Editor’s note: Today I am wearing a dress from Ann Taylor, scarf from Gucci, and shoes from Coach.
Happy Wednesday!! Christmas is coming...the goose is getting fat... and Kay is getting tired!! We are on the home stretch now... and plugging away! We finished the bookcases at my client’s house yesterday after installing the furniture and hanging the art on Monday. All is looking so fine...I am so proud! It has turned out exactly like I envisioned it. Love it when that happens......and 99% of the time it does. My client treated us to a lovely Christmas lunch and included my sweet mother. Mother adores seeing my work!! It was fun explaining everything to her! The painters are not finished....her rug for the dining room is due in on December 21st and still has to travel to Fort Worth....and the mantel is not installed in the tv area. But everything else is sparkling!!! Today we had a split day between Dallas and Fort Worth...... so I decided to take Lacie Rue to Dallas . The cool, cloudy day allowed me to leave her in the car while we were in showrooms. She got invited into the Kravet/Lee Jofa showroom and was thrilled making new friends!!! She was the belle of the ball!! My 13 1/2 year old baby had a big day!!!! She passed out when we got back to the studio! We have a bit more to get done for clients before I start my cooking on the 22nd. But all is wrapping up nicely!!
The article today comes from the December issue of Elle Decor. This beautiful home in Wiltshire, England...”Seend Manor”.... is elegant and dressed for Christmas. The English do everything so proper and fine!!! Enjoy and have a super “hump”day. Lacie Rue had a BIG day!!!
Oh what a stunning dining room!!! The colors used in the room pull from the hand painted chinoiserie wallpaper. I love the cornice on the draperies made from a richly colored blue Jim Thompson silk. The chandelier and mirror...both gorgeous!!!....are custom from the home owner’s Amanda and Stephen Clark’s furniture and textile collection Altfield.
The walls in this guest room are painted in Farrow & Ball’s Rectory Red... and set the stage for an elegant room. The custom four-poster bed is by Beaudesert and is dressed in one of the owner’s fabrics. The lamp, mirror, and night stand are also from Altfield. What a dreamy room!!!
The drawing room is a feast for the eyes. First.... I did not know that Braquenie did custom rugs. I adore their fabric line. This huge rug is a work of art!!!! The custom sofa was inspired by one they had seen in Italy. The armchairs are done in an Altfield velvet.... I love all of these fabrics!!!! I sure wish they were represented in our Dallas Design District!!!!! They are only in London and Hong Kong. The chandelier and scones are antique. ELEGANT ROOM!!!
The master bedroom is swathed in a gorgeous fabric from Braquenie. I love doing a barricade all over the room like this!!!!! The coffer at the end of the bed is 18th-century Chinese.
Oh this mantel in the library!!!!!!! It is original from 1760....breathtaking!!! The marble detail with the flowers is amazing! The walls are upholstered in a silk brocade from Scalamandre . What a fabulous house in every way... so well appointed !!

The tv area. The mantel is not installed yet..... but we got the gallery wall of art hung around her tv. Can you believe that the tv is the big piece in the middle with art on the screen??? She can change the picture on the screen daily to suite her mood! We took out a built in bookcase so the tv could be centered. The fire place surround is new and is STUNNING!!! This area really transformed..... but now she wants to reupholster the checked chairs. Somehow they look tired in their new space. If you give a mouse a cookie.... they always need milk next!!
The living room before I did the bookcases. The rug from Feizy is new as is all of the fabrics in the room. The ottoman in front of the fireplace will get the Scalamandre fabric that is on the corner. The chandelier is from Kate Spade. All of the crystals had to be hand applied when it arrived.............they don't tell you those things when you order it!!!!
The dining room... waiting on the rug. The fabric on the edge of the draperies is from Nobilis and the sequence designs are hand sewn on. It is gorgeous!!!! The chair fabric from Rubelli my client has been holding onto the sample for over a year. I was SO happy it was still current when this project finally got underway!!! The gorgeous chandelier is new as well. It took our breath away when we found it in the showroom!
Me installing the accessories in the bookcases.
Lacie Rue and me in the Kravet/ Lee Jofa showroom today.
This is so true!
For dinner last night I had homemade chili.
