Editor’s note: Today I am wearing a dress from Theory and shoes from Coach.
Happy Wednesday! Mackenzie and I are off to a luncheon today... something I do not do very often on a work day. The luncheon...”Bringing the conversation to Light” is supporting suicide awareness. Not the happiest of subjects .... but very valid. I decided since our day would be odd not being in work mode for part of the day....that we would seal and stamp my Christmas cards this afternoon and play Christmas music . We are getting some orders done this morning and taking care of business so we can take off for the luncheon. It is some kind of cold today... but I love seeing the sun! My studio is filled with light on Sunny days because we have all windows across the front. Lacie Rue was one sad puppy this morning because she had to stay home. She gets her “bath and message “today from the mobile groomers. They have even picked her up at work before to take her home for her bath. If I had a hose and water supply they would bathe her here!!! Kristie’s Pampered Paws is who I use....they are beyond wonderful. They love my fur baby!! Tomorrow I am finalizing the tile at my large job in Arlington with the tile man. Many hours of planning and special ordered designs have gone into the preparation ....it is hoping to be stunning!!! Thank you to Ann Sacks for all of your patience and help making this special project get underway!
Today’s article comes from October issue of House Beautiful. This Victorian home in Sausalito, California is belongs to the owners of heath Ceramics...so of course the tile they placed in the house is fantastic. They have created a wonderful blend with this new ceramic, colorful tiles and antique furniture. I think the house speaks volumes and is extremely happy. They are a 10 minute walk from work, the hardware store, and the launch for kayaks on Richardson Bay. What a Leave it to Beaver way of life!!! Enjoy and have a wonderful “hump”day. The weekend is just around the corner....and Thanksgiving is a week from tomorrow. Holidays here we come!!!
The dining room was designed around this 1950s Firehood fireplace that they found at a fair. The tiles they used on the wall is called Heath Tapestry and is done in two different glazes—-Gunmetal and Hematite. I love the plays on blues with the tiles in the dining room leading to the kitchen. The pendants from Adam Silverman are so interesting.
This oven is amazing!!!! The copper exterior on this 1940s chambers range is treated so the copper will stay gleaming. The other copper surrounding will patina adding more texture to the space over time. The Pratt & Lambert color “November” is gorgeous on the cabinets.
Another play on blue in the study with Pratt & Lambert’s “Midsummer Gale” on the cabinets. The painting above the desk was done by a Sausalito artist Walter Kuhlman... it sat on the floor for 5 years until they created this niche for it to hang.
The richness of the title and the copper is fabulous in this kitchen. The counter top on the island is zinc....which will patina to a blue-gray eventually. I am not familiar with this tile company.... but I adore their product!!!
They chose two patterns of unglazed tile for the bar area. The article says that most people are afraid of unglazed tile..... but it really is sturdy and has an “authentic “ feel to it.
This bath makes my heart sing BIG!!!! There are three colors of tile used to create a spa-like feel. I would LOVE to have a bathroom like this!!! What a cool house filled with their treasures.... and of course their tile that they create. Such a personal touch.
