Editor's note: Today I am wearing a white sweater from Rag & Bone, a skirt from Banana Republic, and boots by Coach.
Happy Thursday! So much for a spring like day yesterday--- I was cold all day along. Mackenzie and I were zooming around Dallas with no coats on-- and I think it never got above 51 degrees in Dallas. Oh well--- I am ready for today. Coat and gloves ready for Old Man Winter hitting us around noon. I even wore my cute suede boots from Coach today. I forget about them-- I prefer my sassy kitten heels to boots-- but do love them when I pull them out. So Bring it on-- snow flurries and all-- I am ready! I was able to source fabrics, wall papers, and drapery rods in Dallas and make a 4:00 appointment in Fort Worth. It was the tale of two cities day. Finalizing side tables and consoles for my install next month is fun and exciting-- I cannot wait to furnish this beautiful house and see it all come alive.
The article I am featuring today I found in the new issue of House Beautiful. Designer Lindsey Lane-- who was one of the 2015 House Beautiful Next Wave alums--- does a fabulous job with this 1940's 2,700 square foot home making it perfect for a New York family's beach getaway. I love that she tailored the home to their needs and desires-- skipping the usual orange and pink normally used in Palm Springs. Enjoy the article and have a super day. The weekend is coming!!!!!!!
The darling exterior. I love the low wall with the gate. The blue door against the white exterior is striking.
This wall paper from Hinson screams Florida. So happy and tropical.the pendant from Tom Dixon is so interesting.-- and I love the contrast of the brass to the leafy wall paper.
This living room is quiet and comfortable. The leaf print on the pillows brings the theme of the wall paper in the entry into the room. There are so many layers of textures in the room-- stone, metal, porcelain, and rattan. The pendant from Serena & Lilly is so whimsical. The 1971 photo of Jacki O by Ron Galella is fantastic!!!!!!!!! I loved reading about the story of the ceiling finish. Lane walked into the room when only the primer was applied--- and said STOP! That is it-- perfect just like that. The driftwood feel is fabulous in the room. Sometimes you don't know what you want until it happens!
The sofas in this room are done in a Pindler indoor /outdoor fabric-- which is so perfect for wet bathing suits and just life in general happening. I love the ticking on the sofa against the whisky draperies overlooking the pool.the cool floor lamps are by Aerin for Circa Lighting. Great attitude!
The drama of this black and white tile is fabulous!!!! The wife specifically wanted the shelves to be open for easy access. She is an avid cook---- I love that!! So many of my clients do not cook-- which of course is fine , but I LOVE to cook. So this warms my heart! The black and white theme from the living room is carried into the kitchen with this tile that is oh so great.
I am in love with this room for so many reasons. I adore the fabric and bed Linens choices for this guest room--- but especially love the headboards. The Christopher Farr Cloth fabric on these surfboard shaped , very tall headboards is out of this world!!! Love the metal lamp mounted on the headboard as well.
The wall paper in this bathroom makes my heart sing BIG!!!!!!!!! I have never placed wallpaper from Florence Broadhurst-- but I am sure going to source it now!
Love, love this blue ceiling in the master . It looks like the sky. The article says that blue is supposed to keep the bugs away-- if this is true what a great bonus!!!!!!The white trim gives such great definition.
