Editor's note: Today I am wearing a turtleneck by Daine von Furstenburg, a vintage sweater, a Banana Republic skirt, and Leddy's custom boots.
Happy Friday! Our second Friday in the new year. We did not take down our Christmas last weekend since my Riley was still home..... so we have a LOT to do this weekend. It is always so sad when it comes down............ but we need to make way for spring! Since the weather will be so cold-- I think I will just have a big fire going and music on. That is in between playoff games. It is so sad that the Cowboys are out of the mix.. but still great teams playing . My Harrison is predicting the Saints and the Patriots in the Super Bowl . We shall see!!!!!! Except for Lucy with my precious mother, I will not have to leave the office on this blustery day. Lacie Rue will have another "work place" day as I call it. She goes ballistic in the morning when I tell her she gets to go to the workplace!! I don't blame her--- I love my studio, too!!
Mackenzie found today's article on line with House Beautiful. I love getting to blog about something that people would not have seen in a magazine. Versace is an incredibly talented man-- and this property has his touches all over. I have actually driven by this when I was in Miami with my clients on the way to lunch in Miami Beach. Enjoy this fabulous mansion now turned into a hotel. I think on this cold weekend we can all dream of the warmth and beauty of this property!!!!!!
The three-story building was originally built as an apartment complex by Mayflower descendant and Standard Oil heir Alden Freeman in 1930.
Wow and super wow!!! When I drove by this mansion I only saw it from the water side. What incredible architecture and what history. I love that it went from a Standard oil heir to Versace. This bedroom screams of Versace's drama and love of color.
Versace turned the 24 apartments into 10 large suites in the original house.
The exterior is so typical of Miami with it's Spanish influence and glamour. What vision he had to buy these two properties and create an astonishing estate. As my mother has always said...... all it takes is money. But in this case it also took vision and talent.
The ceiling in this bedroom is beyond incredible!!!!! What a work of art!!! The oh so elaborate bedding adds to the whole drama of the room.
Reservations are required for dinner, but guests can walk into the bar for drinks.
Can you even imagine how stunning this pool is in person lined with 24-Karat tiles!!!!!!!!! This whole setting looks like something out of a movie set. Versace's life was full of drama.
The hotel is on Ocean Drive, a few steps away from the Atlantic Ocean.
The view from this gorgeous roof top must be spectacular!!!!!
I cannot decide which bedroom is my favorite. I adore pink -- and irt makes your skin look so pretty--- so this may have to be the first on my list! The moulding around the ceiling is dreamy!!!!!
