Happy Thursday! It's the work horse day of the week. I am meeting with my client today whose house we have been working on for two years. All of the details in this house have been so carefully chosen and picked out--I cannot wait for it to come to fruition! One of the most exciting parts of my job! As I often say--it's all in the details! Today I am featuring a house in Houston that I found in the July/August issue of Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine. After years of raising 3 sons in Katy, this couple wanted a home in the heart of the city. They found a home under construction that they could add their own touches. Interior Designer Sarah Eilers did a magnificent job! Enjoy and have a super day!
Builder Karl Hansen did a great job of creating not your normal Mediterranean--style house. Authentic looking materials were used that react well to the humid weather in Houston (the weather always makes for a bad hair day for me!). Clay bricks were used over concrete and integrated plaster this was hand-troweled which stand up to these elements better were utilized. Such a lovely exterior!
The article talks about how many of the rooms evolved around the rugs. I must say that I am a huge rug person and rug snob. I do not like cheap rugs for many reasons. But I usually start with fabrics and then go rug shopping. So much easier to carry a bag of fabrics around to look for the perfect rug! This room is lovely in every way. The Formations cocktail table is so perfect and functional--as is the whole Formations line. The soft blues and creams are so soothing!
Another view of this room. The rug from Matt Cameron is just beautiful. Love the Kerry Joyce fabric used on the Charles Miller lounge chair and ottoman found at ID Collection. Peter Fassano--one of my favorite fabric lines--is used for the drapery fabric.
The groin and vault ceiling sets such a wonderful tone to the dining room. The antique crystal chandelier is gorgeous--and why I love to use antiques--is so unique. Love the long bench used under the large oil painting. Another wonderful rug!
What a beautiful antique chest in the entry. I love how the piece of art by Elizabeth Chandler is set next to the antique lamp found at Carl Moore Antiques. My absolutely favorite flower--orchids--always add elegance to any setting!
The piece of art in this breakfast room was created using the homeowners collection of antique rolling pins. The article talks about how the designer Sarah Eilers likes to incorporate elements that represent the homeowners whenever possible. I always do the same thing--it is what makes each house unique to the owner. Love the chandelier from Gregorius Pineo. Fabulous chairs! Love that Lee Jofa on the front and backs of the Panache Designs chairs.
I love this kitchen! The Walker Zanger tiles are fabulous! Great lighting from Brown. The color of the custom cabinets is so soothing and lovely. I would adore to cook in this kitchen!
Super outdoor dining. One of my favorite outdoor lines--Janus et Cie--designed the table paired with Westminster Teak benches. The antique chandelier is wonderful!
I love a covered patio to enjoy a fire in the winter months or to enjoy a wonderful spring night. The aluminum chairs and sofa from Summer Classics in Pelham, Alabama are fabulous. The antique cocktail table was from the homeowners collection. What an incredible setting!
A beautiful "moment" with an antique walnut commode paired with a stunning Trumeau mirror.
What a great idea to incorporate a bunk room with arts and crafts table. Perfection for kids!
Super study! I always love a sofa tucked in an area with swing arm lamps. The bookcases are perfectly balanced with books and accessories The sofa is from A.Rudin--one of my favorite "man" pleasing furniture lines because it is so comfortable with its sofa lines.
A lovely Master bedroom in every way! The Clarence House fabric for the draperies is gorgeous. Love the nail head decorated bedside table from Noir. As always--Leontine Lines from New Orleans add class to any room!
Beautiful Walker Zanger tiles are on the floor in the Master Bath. Love the oval tub!
Swivel chairs from A.Rudin pure joy to sit in! Love the trim on the bottom of this Zoffany fabric. Gorgeous antique chandelier!
