Editor's Note: Today I am wearing Elie Tahri silk blouse, skirt from Anthropology, shoes by Valentino, and belt vintage.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I am so excited to share my new studio with you today. 26 1/2 years in the making and Michelle and I are thoroughly enjoying it. It was quite the move with furniture coming from three different places and we still have three vendors to bring fabric books back but other than that it is just about complete. I love having all my art on the walls with these tall ceilings and after being in an office with no windows for 14 1/2 years having the sunlight pour in the front of my studio is divine! I can't wait for my clients to come see it which will have to happen after I get back from New York. Nothing like going on a trip on the heels of a major move especially at age 57 but I always had the motto I got to do what I got to do. I pulled my clothes for New York on Sunday, tried on my outfits, and picked the jewelry, and shoes. So I am going to throw it all in my suitcase and I will be ready to go. My twins 24 birthday is on Thursday and I will sadly only be with one but as we get older that is just the way it is going to be. I have a great gift certificate for him to go have a lovely dinner with his girlfriend on his birthday so all is good. Have a fabulous Tuesday and make it a great rest of the week!
Seeing my name outside of the building made my heart sore. My new address is 5132 Camp Bowie. I am almost on the corner of Merrick and Camp Bowie.
Michelle's side of the office. Her desk was my first dining table that I bought with my graduation from college money. This table has had dinner parities on it in New York, Dallas, and Fort Worth. It now has a new life creating business for Kay Genua Designs. It has been an old friend. The botanicals use to live in my dining room in my house and the mirror was a gift from my mother and grandmother in 1989.
I called this my wall of fame. I am waiting for my 2017 Best Designer in Dallas to come back from the framer to finish the wall. My 250 year old buffet which is actually a coffer from a church use to live in my dining room. The lamps are antique candlesticks that were my great grandmothers that I turned into lamps.
My side of the office! The Emilio Pucci scarf over my desk I have had since the 90's it came from the flea market in Santa Fe as did the poster above it. The mirror to the left I bought for my son Harrison in the South of France as a future wedding gift. The bookcase underneath was in my daddy's medical office in the 60's. So many memories!
My fabulous bookcase that came from my old office. It took up most of the office that I had before and it has a much grander space to live in now. It houses my current clients.
The dining table came from Baird Family and I bought the dining chairs for Riley in Round Top for her TCU house. The antique punch bowl in the middle belonged to my great grandmother. The bare spot on the fabric wall is for the fabric books that will be returning later this week. My vendors were very kind to pick up their books and bring them back to help aid my move.
The other side of my fabric room. This work table use to be in the floral department of The Market Antiques and Home Furnishings. When The Market closed the manager gave it to me as a gift for my new business. It is also an old friend.
One of my sitting areas. The settee belonged to my great grandmother and is covered in a Charles Faudree fabric. The corner chair has a Scalamandre fabric. The art work has been collected over 30 years with a few antique pieces thrown in that came from my great grandparents. The large chest use to live in my dining room.
Another view of this sitting area showing the armoire. This armoire has been in my family since 1840's and use to live in Harrison's room. It is so tall and I am so happy that it gets to be shown off with these grand ceilings that I have now.
My other sitting area with the fabulous Lee Jofa sofa that was for Riley's TCU house. This sofa is so comfortable! Harrison always said that if Riley does not want he wants it because it is "the bomb!" The bureau on the right I bought for Riley in the South of France for a future wedding gift. The carving on it is beautiful. The antique trunk that I am using as a coffee table came from The Market and was found in England. It is over 200 years old!
Another view of this sitting area. The painting over the Louis XVI chest and the orchid plate were a gift from my great grandmother and my mother as well as the lamp. The floor lamp in the corner belonged to my great grandfather. The large blue painting I found at Banks Fine Arts in Dallas and use to live in my breakfast room.
This painting changes depending on the light whether the pink or the yellow pops out. I always adore this painting. It use to live in my living room.
My little kitchen area. I am storing art for one of my clients and decide to hang it on the walls for safety. I will miss the art when it they all leave in July.
Wall of art in my bathroom.
Round table that use to belong to my great grandmother and my precious dog lamp that is a bronze that I turned into a lamp. The dog came from Paris.
This chest use to belong to my great grandmother and lived in her living room. The water color over the chest I found on the streets in Miami and brought back with me. The pink handled basket is Steuben.
Lacie Rue got to come to work today! First time ever that I have able to bring my dog to work. I have finally arrived!!
Love these quotes!
I had dinner last night at Mi Cocina downtown and had my favorite Rico Salad and forgot to take a picture. It was delicious!
