Editor's Note: Today in New York I am wearing Ann Taylor dress shorts, Joie silk blouse, and J.Crew flats.
Happy Friday everyone! The weekend is almost upon us. 1 1/2 days down in New York City and I am still having a blast. Dinner last night with mother, Riley, and Chandler was so much fun even though we missed Harrison. I surprised Harrison with a gift card to have a fabulous meal at Bonnell's with his girlfriend on his birthday. I hope it made up for not being with his mommy. Next year it is his turn. We have another fun filled day of shopping and eating ahead of us. Mother and I have never been show people. I know this breaks hearts of the people who love shows but we much prefer a long dinner at a normal hour and be able to talk, visit, and drink wine. The house that I am featuring today was so kindly featured in 817 Home. I was so excited that the magazine was interested in one of my projects. This is another one of my favorite clients who gives me free reign in my design work. I must say like all artist I do my best work when I am given free reign. This project was so much fun, so happy, and full of color! I have had great response to this article and was proud to be featured in the magazine. Thank you 817 Home! Have a fabulous weekend everyone. I know I will!
This monkey lamp lives in the guest room of this casita. It was in Bob Albritton's childhood home. He has got such attitude---that can said for both the lamp and Bob. The fabric is Schumacher for draperies and pillows. The yellow and pink table came from a previous home. I love re-purposing furniture!
An outside view of the casita. The chaise lounges are from Brown Jordan as is the fabric. This pool is stunning with the wonderful fountains!
The colors of this whole room started with the needlepoint rug that was from Mary Louise and Bob's home in Chattanooga. It lived in their dining room at that point. The hand-painted custom armoire started its life in their daughter's nursery. The sofa that you see the corner is a sleeper sofa that was reupholstered recently for the main house for their TV room. It was perfect for this casita giving additional place for guests to sleep. The planter in the corner came out of Bob's parents home.
This guest room is so happy! The coverlet and pillows are from Legacy and the tape was custom designed to go with the fabrics that we chose. I did a square table skirt instead of a round table skirt next to the bed to add a different element to the room. A lot of the accessories on the bedside table were gifts from me to Mary Louise. It is easy for me to buy gifts for my clients that I know so well!
This chest was purchased for their home in Escondido Golf Resort and it end up not being built. The project got too out of control. I was so happy that it landed in this casita. The fun artwork over the chest came from a previous lake house. The majolica pieces are part of Mary Louise's extensive majolica collection.
The fabric on the barstools in the kitchen are also Schumacher and the beautiful bird painting use to live outside of their bedroom in the main house. I love the turquoise glass tile that I used for the kitchen. In the living area the table on the left is Kerr Collection and has lived in about 4 different rooms during its life span with the Albritton's. The bench was custom designed for the area and is covered in a Schumacher fabric and Mary Louise found the darling bird armoire that houses the towels for the pool. You can see some of the daughters Maggie artwork in the bottom right corner. This pair of lamps next to the turtle painting have also lived in about three different setting in the Albritton's home.
Great seating area on this covered porch. Furniture is Brown Jordan as is the fabric. The Chicago brick was used on the patio. It has so much character!
I thought this bottom quote was beyond sassy! I feel like this quite often.
Birthday lunch with Riley and my mother!
Riley's co-worker Christina bringing festive balloons to lunch.
Riley had a happy day!! Many flowers and gifts! I missed my Harrison on their birthday!
Off to dinner at Beauty & Essex! I wore my new dress from Anthropology!
I had the "Mr. Right" cocktail which was jalapeno infused baron tequila with lime, celery bitters, and ipa. Delicious!
Happy times with my Riley girl!
Dinner was delicious! We had fried oysters, steak tartar, grilled cheese and tomato soup dumplings and mac and cheese. The steak tartar had swedish pickled beets, anchovy creme fraiche, and mustard dill rice cake. The cornmeal fried oysters had avocado mousse, pickled jalapenos, and topped with smoked tomato aioli. It was all divine!!
It was incredible!!
I love this song from Etta James! This week it has new meaning for me. At last I have my own studio!!!
