Editor's Note: Today I am wearing an outfit from Lake Austin Spa--this is a rare day that I show up to work in workout clothes.
Happy Thursday everyone! We moved fast and furiously yesterday from 10:30 to 4:00 and got so much done. Michelle is continuously amazed at how much old catalogs and magazines that I have not purged. When you have been designing for 26 years you tend to have a lot of baggage. A move is always good to make things fresh and new. I am so pleased with how my new studio is shaping up. It was very exciting to see the first furniture to go in. It is light, bright, and happy and for the first time I have a sitting area. My client who come to visit won't know what to do with themselves. Some of the upholstery that I have to sit in is from Lee Jofa which will be fun to allow clients to sit in the frame in my studio since I love their upholstery. I can't wait to show you pictures of my almost finish studio tomorrow in the blog. I know I will be some kind of bone tired tonight but a happy tired. Today I am featuring an article in the new issue of the Dallas Style & Design. From what I have time to look at this whole issue is wonderful. You should go pick up a copy if you don't receive it. Happy Thursday! It is a big day for Kay Genua Designs!
This newly structure home in University Park is so light and airy. I adore this white room with touches of blue. The sitting is from Hickory Chair and designer Traci Connell used nanotex fabrics from Kravet on the upholstery. If you are not familiar with nanotex it is amazing! The fabric is treated with a nanotex and it repeals all liquid. So white sofas become useful once again with no fear of red wine or food spills. This room is lovely!
What a gorgeous study! I love the shapely bookcases from Ambella home flanking the back of the desk and the sleek chairs in front of the desk. The coffered ceiling has Phillip Jeffries wallcoverings inserted in each square. I love using wallpaper on the ceiling and it adds so much interest to the room! Beautiful draperies on a lucite rod.
What a stunning kitchen! What a fabulous tile backsplash and beautiful vent a hood. The acrylic pendants are from Hudson Valley who I often ripe out articles in magazines about. I love the crisp blue and white in this kitchen. What a lovely place to wake up!
Beautiful breakfast area with gorgeous draperies and a great chandelier from Visual Comfort. I love the oval shape tulip table and the side chairs are covered in a faux white leather which is one of my favorite things to do! The custom banquette in the window is so charming and adds elegance and warmth to the space.
What a stunning bar with the chrome and glass shelves on top of the beautiful blue buffet! The top is white Silestone which is impossible to ruin even with bleach. It is very user friendly! Beautiful iron staircase going up the backstairs.
Stunning wallpaper from Designers Guild in this powder room! The brass faucet is from Newport Brass and the gorgeous vessel sink is from Kohler. Such a lovely powder room!
Another beautiful room of wallpaper this time from Harlequin. One of my favorite vendors! Round tables are always wonderful for conversation. This room looks like a little jewel box.

Dinner last night was a jalapeno cheddar burger from Central Market served with steamed broccoli. Delicious!
One of my favorite songs from The Beatles. So sweet and romantic!
