Editor's Note: Today in Portland I am wearing AG jeans, sweater Betty Rider from Paris, Cole Hahn belt, Trina Turk blouse, and Valentino shoes.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I am on my last day of my Ann Sacks trip in Portland. Learning so much and meeting such great people from around the United States and Canada. Once again, such an honor to be include on this educational trip. Since Spring is in full bloom in Fort Worth. I am looking forward to getting back to the warm weather and quiet rainy here. It is amazing how every state has its unique qualities. Today I am featuring Tommy Hilfiger's home in Greenwich, Connecticut. They have named the home "Round Hill"--but it was first called "Chateau Paterno." It was built for real estate magnate Charles Vincent Paterno in 1939 by a Yale architect graduate Greville Rickard. I had the pleasure of sitting in some architecture classes at Yale with my best friend in the 80's--so fascinating! Martyn Lawrence Bullard designed the house--what a talented man! I know you will enjoy this one! Make it a great day!
Such an incredible outdoor setting with the water fountain in the center. The metal canopy with the greenery is so architectural beautiful!
This stunning castle was in bad shape when Dee & Tommy Hilfiger purchased it. The tile roof was in need of much restoration. They had to have the terra-cotta tiles made in Turkey to replace the roof and they were replaced one by one. Amazing!!
What a precious family!
Wow! What an outstanding game room! I personally could have as much fun shooting pool in this room as drinking a glass of champagne.
WOW! What an incredible entry hall--so stately! The library table is gothic revival from the 1840's and the stools beneath were designed by Bullard. The rug is 17th century Oushak--incredible!
The original structure of this home is unbelievable gorgeous! Look at the wood detailing on the stairs and underneath the windows. A true work of art!
The breakfast room houses so many details--I could sit for hours and just take it all in. From the antique oak table, vintage horn chandelier, 19th century French console--and that ceiling--super wow!!
I have a thing for four-poster beds--this one is fabulous! The shield above the bed is an antique Italian armorial shield. The Leontine linens are so fabulous as usual!
What a whimsical kids room! Love the stars on the ceiling and the boat bed. What little boy would not want to love to sleep here! The sail over the bed is a great touch!
Bullard describes the house as "that great American style from 1920 and '30s when Americans would tour Europe and bring back an interesting concoction of ideas." This room is simply stunning. From the fabulous ceiling to the incredible upholstery and draperies--a master piece!
Another glimpse of the beautiful woodwork in this house. I love the blue settee moment at the end of the hall with the petite horns going all around the art. I have collected these often for other clients.
In one word I can say this dining room is pure wow!! I could stare at the molding, the wooden cornice, and the door surrounds for hours. Just beautiful!
What an incredible room to call a study! So stately and full of visual impact!
Love the large scale oil paintings and that incredible carved console in this gorgeous room! Look at that chandelier. The detailing oh my!!
This is the screening room in the home. Can't you just feel the Hollywood glamour?!
