Editor's Note: Today I am wearing a blouse from Ann Taylor, skirt from Club Monaco, kitten heels from Ann Taylor.
Happy Wednesday everyone! It is our Dallas Day which is one of my favorite days of the week because I get to wear my creative hat all day long. After the blog that I wrote yesterday on the incredible townhouse which the designer incorporated the homeowner's collections from his many travels. I thought I would turn to one of my favorite designers Charlotte Moss book "A Passion For Detail" for today's blog. I personally am a huge collector of many things as are many of my clients. Collections can be displayed as cleaned or as clutter as you desire especially depending on the feeling of the room. Even a contemporary setting can display a great collection on an etagere or a bookcase. I adore Charlotte Moss' work and treasure her books. Have a fabulous Wednesday! It is Hump Day!!
Blue and white is a favorite of many people to collect. I adore how it is displayed around this doorway--there is even a display shelve above the door!! Incredible drama and great symmetry!!
I loved this image of this collection of great black and white plates, hats, umbrellas, and canes. Such a manly space but so much to take in! I have a client who collects hats. We purchased about 20 hat hooks for to display them all in his downstairs entry way and going up the back stairs. It is cool space to walk into!
This collection of antique chairs on this mantle warmed my heart because one of my favorite clients---by the way I have a lot of favorite clients--told me years ago that she wanted to start collecting antique chairs. I have had so much fun finding them for her from everywhere from Dallas, to New York, to Baton Rouge, even in New Orleans. I think they are so precious and add a bit of whimsy to a room!
I sold so much Staffordshire when I worked at the Market Antiques & Home Furnishings. They use to buy not only antiques from France but also from England and most of the Staffordshire came from England. They were original carnival prices. The King Charles Spaniel Staffordshire pieces are the most common especially the large size. The small pugs, lambs, and some other animals are less prevalent and more price to find. I love knocking out a bookcase with Staffordshire. So colorful, interesting, and I love the different sizes!
One of my favorite things to do is to have stacks of books with antique accessories on top and below. I love this way of displaying!
All of my clients know that I have a box fetish. I have installed my fetish in some of clients that are interested and I absolutely love looking for antique boxes. I have researched the history on the different sizes and uses over the 200 year time of living. I have a great collection of antique boxes and have fun doing the same for many of my clients!
Another one of my favorite things to collect for clients are antique prints. A collection of antique prints framed in the same frame is masterful on any wall!
This room absolutely warmed my heart because this is the type of clutter that I live in at home. Not only do I have my own collections of things but I have inherited incredible accessories from both of my grandmothers. I also have a thing about coffee table books and I have them all over my room and my house.
Love these antique plates displayed along this mantle. I use antique plates on bookcases, on walls, over beds, anywhere I can. I think they add another element to a room beside just art work!
What a great display of antique china and I adore the Norah's ark. So absolutely precious! I am sure it is no fun to dust but to bad because it is sure is fun to look at!
This is a portion of the 18 foot long desk that is in my bedroom. This is my personal space and I don't care that is clutter. I have pictures of my family and friends going wall to wall and love waking up to them every day. I also always have orchids here in this window. One of my favorite things!
I love herend and have it in several places in the house. This is on top of a little antique nightstand that is on a small wall in my bedroom. Pictures of my twins at various stages in their life are all over my house. I treasure my twins!
Love these quotes!
Dinner last night was roasted chicken from Central Market served with zucchini cut in two topped with a jalapeno oil, slap yo' mama seasoning, and mozzarella cheese. Quick and easy--bake on 400 for 20 mins! Looks so pretty on the plate and it is delicious!
I don't think there is one Luther Vandross song that I do not like. I still love Luther! I am sorry that he died so young!
