Editor's note: I am with my Riley & Harrison in the second picture. These was taken last Christmas day. I was wearing a Rebecca Taylor Silk blouse, J Crew wool cropped pants, J crew flats.
Happy Friday! The countdown now is 11 days till Christmas. After my wrapping extravaganza last weekend, I have now delivered some of my presents and have many more ready to be delivered. I get to get my Riley home next week, which I am so excited. Even though my day to day with surgery will not be fun to say the least, at least I get to spend the day with my Harrison. A day with either or both of my children is always a special day. I absolutely adore them. I’m hoping that this surgery does not slow me down this next week in getting everything prepared for Christmas day because that day is so special to me, and I love all of my traditions. God gave me a lot of special talents, and one of them is wrapping presents and decorating for Christmas. Even though I had to give up doing my client’s house for Christmas in 2015 I still have fond memories of all the beautiful things that I create din my clients’ homes. It means a lot to me to create a space or an atmosphere in my client’s homes for them to enjoy for themselves and with their family and friends. When delivering p-resent yesterday one of my client’s daughters was home and told me that a friend who walked into their Palm Springs house said it was the prettiest thing she had ever seen in her life, and that it belonged in a magazine. That truly was a Christmas present in itself. I really do love my work.
11 days and counting. Make them all count! Christmas is coming whether we’re ready or no not! Have a fabulous Friday and an even better weekend!
I worked at The Market for twelve years. We wrapped presents very day for customers so I became quite fast and efficient in my wrapping abilities. I also learned from the best how to make Christmas bows. I use the same theory in making the bows for my packages. It is all in the twisting of the loops and tying it off behind the loops so that the bow stands up high like a party hat. Here are a close up of some of my packages this year.
I have a big Neimans bag that I keep the ribbons from last year. I untie and reuse when I can. This beautiful satin ribbon and the printed Christmas ribbon were so precious I had to pull out this season!
I buy mostly all of my ribbon and paper at Costco. You have to get it early though for the best selection-- I think it comes out in October........ long before any of us have thought about Christmas. I did not buy any this year--- I kind of had too much from the last two years. So time to make room for next year!!! I also buy Christmas cards when they go 75% off after Christmas to use as the gift card on some of my presents. It makes a beautiful presentation and allows you to write a special note about the present.
I buy ornaments and garland that I can use as decoration on the presents when they are marked way down after Christmas. I also buy inexpensive small ornaments that come in a box and spring a few together to make a cute presentation. All you need is a really skinny ribbon and tie it onto the bow .
One of my friends loves pink. I know this is not really a Christmas color but it still looks so festive!! The cute gift enclosure card with the snowman I bought in an after Christmas sale last year. I really do believe in buying full price to support merchants-- but after Christmas I feel like I am helping them get rid of their inventory by cleaning out the sale merchandise.
On tall packages I like to use larger ornaments like this nutcracker.
Here are some of the pictures from my past jobs. I decorated houses for Christmas from 1990 until 2015. It was time to hang up my elf hat--- my body was telling me STOP and my design business had thankfully reached a point that I needed the time back to take care of business. My clients were all so upset-- and I must say I miss being a part of their family traditions. I knew where everything was kept in all of my client's houses. I turned over my Christmas business to one of my coworkers from The Market after she installed with me in 2015.
This family loved nutcrackers and had an extensive amount for me to display. I used them all in their entry hall.
This client loved anything with sea shells. I ordered her all new ornaments years ago that had a sea theme.
I loved this entry with the antique sleigh and life size Santa and Reindeer.
This is so true.
