Happy Tuesday! Having a glorious time in San Miguel with this fabulous group of ladies! The house we are staying in meets my approval as far as the door and amenities. The house is located on a private cobble stone on the Rosewood Property on four different levels. I wake up in the morning to one of the many San Miguel Church bells which is such a treat. Yesterday we went to a tequila tasting at Casa Dragones. This tequila is on Opraha's "Favorite Things' list. I have never been a huge tequila person but this tequila being sipped out of a champagne shaped glass... was mighty fine! This company was founded in 2009 and is already rated as one of the top tequila's in the world. As much as I loved the tequila, I was absolutely fascinated by the building. Built in the 1600's for the army who guarded the queen of Spain. The whole experience was on that I will always remember, what an incredible treat. I took a lot of pictures (sorry the blog is so long) but I wanted to share. Have a fabulous Tuesday, I will be shipping and laying by the pool. Not a usual day in the life of Kay Genua Designs.
The homes in San Miguel are mostly behind beautiful Spanish doors. And that is Shannon "behind", behind the door! San Miguel was founded in the mid 16th century because of its silver and minerals. I had no idea that this city was so old and I am fascinated buy the architecture.
Our lovely tour guide Brenda who could not have been more delightful. Her English was perfect and with a lovely accent.
These door were original to the house. UNBELIEVEABLE!
The fountain on the wall was the original trough for the soldiers horses. You can see the walkway above that connected bedrooms. Silly me, I wondered about what they did when it was raining. I wonder if they had umbrellas in the 16th century?
This bedroom was off the courtyard entrance. It is the sitting room to the bedroom.
This is the powder room off the courtroom. WOW OH WOW! Please note the mixture of brass faucets, bronze lighting and Venetian mirror. This just goes to show you that you do not have to be a purest. The sink is a carved out log. Absolutely fascinating! Leave it to me to be taking picture in the bathroom.
This is a close up photo of the horse trough.
Dinner last night was at Moxi. What a gorgeous restaurant and fabulous food.
Can you tell that my friend and roommate Shannon is full of life? Here we are in this incredible stairwell.
On the walkway connecting the bedrooms. What an incredible view of this famous Church. The original church on this sight was build in the 16th century and club bled twice before this was erected in the 1880's.
One of the bedrooms. I found the dressing of the beds to be so beautiful and fascinating. Note the beautiful green wall color.
Here is that dang Shannon again! Loved this draped entrance to the bathroom.
This bathtub was unbelieveable. The wood casing to the opening was something I have never seen before.
Another view of this bedroom, I love the little points that come
Down the almost look like flags.
Another view of the draped entrance to the bathroom
Another bedroom with a decorated bathroom entrance.
I adore standing at the top of stairwells looking down. 4 stories!
What a precious kitchen. The resident cook made us home made guacamole and chips to enjoy with our tequila. Thank you Angel
Another beautiful bedroom. LOVE the orange walls and the four poster bed.
This tub used to be a fountain in a local square. How cool is that!
These doors was originally confessional doors in a church. How fascinating how this house evolved.
Look what happen at confession! Love this whole scene and the chandelier!
This is replica of the soldiers uniform.
Couldn't resist opening the top of the doors to the powder room. You never know when Kay is going to pop out!
This house where we had a tequila tasting is 300 years old . The army here protected the queen of Spain!! How extroardinary to stand where history was made!
Here are some of the girls at lunch yesterday! So lucky to be with such fun and bright women!
The name of our restaurant for lunch yesterday.
I had ceviche-so delicious and so fresh!
Jackson 5 always makes me feel the groove-how can you not dance to this?!
