Editor's note: Today I am wearing a top from Ann Taylor, AG jeans, and Michael Kors shoes.
Happy Thursday! Day 2 of my big install and we are moving right along! Today is art hanging day-one of my favorites. This is what truly makes a room transform into a home. We have collected art from all over the country for over a year and a half. Beaux Art in Dallas finished out many of our needs in the Design District with antique prints and floral original cuts. I cannot wait to see it all up! We cannot place the rugs for 3 weeks-which bums me out because the final coat was not put on the hardwood floors until last Friday. We did get to place the custom rug in the breakfast area because those floors are stone. The rug made my heart sing big! Lee Jofa custom rugs are stupendous!
Today’s article I found in Patron Magazine. The couple moved from Harlingen to Houston, and after interviewing many Houston designers they stayed true to the designer from Dallas who they had worked with in the past. In fact-the whole team from designer to architect to contractor came from Dallas. The result is amazing. Even if your taste is traditional-this transitional apartment is sure to delight.
Have a super great day-I’m off to hang art!!
Oh my goodness-this view is breath taking! The lighting in the apartment by Suzanne Branch is so outstanding! Here in the living/dining room area are custom lights from Dallas-based glass artist Carolyn Ray. What absolute pieces of art! The standing sculpture that fits so grand in between the windows is by Tom Corbin. Beautiful custom sectional from Allen Knight.
This incredible room is the elevator entry. I think I would have to stop here and take it in for at least 20 minutes before I walked into the rest of the apartment! The fabulous red piece of art is by Winston Mascarenhas and titled “Carnival Dance Red”. What movement in this piece from Craighead Green Gallery. The porcelain installation-so cool-is by Jennifer Pritchard. The bronze mother and child is from the owner’s own collection. The bench from Allen Knight completes the room with the circular light from Boyd. There is so much for the senses in this space—WOW!
A close up of the dining area with two tables from Allen Knight. They can be pushed together, or separated, giving such versatility to the room. By would I love a dinner party with that skyline view!
Beautiful open kitchen by Redstone Kitchens. The green and blue trompe l’oleil paper motif is from Yrjo Edelmann. Note how the ceiling is lowered over the island to add a bit of warmth to the tall ceilings. The hanging fixtures by artist Carlyn Ray are handcrafted. This apartment is like living in an elegant museum.
What an incredible powder room. I have never seen a vanity like that (I would love to see how they handled the paper beneath! The elegant lighting is from Orchre Lighting. Painting by Gabrielle Garza from Bright Group. All in all-so unique.
Wow! The marble slab on the wall in the hallway along with the custom rug and bench is pure POW!
Fabulous master bath! Beautiful tile from Ann Sacks that is exclusive. Oh how I love Ann Sacks tile!!! They flew me to Portland in early Spring to spend a few days at headquarters. It was so fascinating and so much fun! The light fixture is from the Bright Group-so elegant like a flower.
The Holly Hunt bed with that oh so fabulous glass sculpture by Carlyn Ray is truly a show stopper! Love the serene curved bedside tables, the side table between the Cameron Collection chairs, and the built in piece across from the bed. So lovely!
What a delightful room to watch TV and unwind. Beautiful sectional by Cameron Collection-this upholstery is D R E A M Y to sit on! Such cool chairs and light fixtures from Scott + Cooner.
Not your ordinary office bath! So fine how the mirror is hanging over the retractable shades. The painting was done by one of the owner’s friends-what a talented friend!
~ This just makes me smile ~
Last night for dinner I had salmon with lemon butter sauce and fresh black eyed peas that were cooked with chicken broth and onions. This was my first attempt at black eyed peas, and it was a huge success!
I never grow old of hearing this song!
