Editor's note: Today I am wearing a skirt from Vince, a sweater from Anne Taylor, a silk blouse with leather trim from Banana Republic, and shoes from Valentino.
Happy Wednesday-it’s hump day! Although these days I feel slightly panicked on “Hump Day” if I have not achieved what I had intended to do on Monday and Tuesday. I need an 8th day in the week where the phone does not ring and there are no are no emails to answer…but I bet there are a lot of other people out there that feel the same. Life is ever so interesting-we have to keep dancing with it!
Today’s article-I don’t know how I missed it when the September issue of Elle Décor came out. It is a fabulous property outside of Paris that was given to designer Garance Aufaure’s grandparents as a wedding gift in the 1920s. Aufaure lives in the house with her 92 year old mother amongst the incredible antiques and accessories handed down for generations. I too live with my mother. My grandmother always said that ladies do not reveal their age-so let’s just say that mother is younger than Aufaure’s mother. I adore living with my mother and the antiques that trace back four generations. This home is sure to delight-and the room are divine.
Have a great day and a super rest of the week!
The article is titled “A Family Affair”-which is so true. The home in Compiegne France is full of treasures collected movingly over time. The living room is so full-just the way I love to live in a room…so full of memories. Representated her is a Louis XVI desk, Napoleon III chair, striped arm chair, and bergere chair. Gorgeous room!
Oh the dining room speaks to me! Love, love the mixture of plates and oil paintings hung together on the wall. I do exactly the same thing for myself and wherever it is appropriate at a client’s house. The walnut table is Louis XVI and the dining chairs are curie-1820. If furniture could talk…
Beautiful section of the dining room with part of the collection of Moustiers ceramics dating back to the 1600s. Love this vibrant blue used against the traditional red and blue oriental rug.
Fabulous entry! The 19th century wood is original to the house-now painted in green and black paints from Tollens. Beautiful Henry IV cabinet looking so strong and lovely.
A beautiful “moment” in the master bedroom with a LXVI daybed and secretary. Note that the secretary is tucked in the corner-there is always room for more incredible antiques! This 5 story house was a former hotel. Aufaure would come here as a child with her cousins for summer vacations.
Gorgeous guest bath updated but still shows family heirlooms. Love the color!
Aufaure has designed interiors for the Dior boutique on Avenue Montaigne-my favorite hotel West End is around the corner and private homes for the Hermes family. What a talented lady! Here shown is a corner of the master bedroom with a LXV bergere chair and a 19th century mantel. I love how the marble continues all the way to the opening-impossible to find this now!

I adore this!
This is a great quote!
Last night for dinner I had peppered ground beef from Central Market and steamed brussel sprouts.
Love this song!
