Editor's Note: Today I am wearing Ann Taylor dress jeans, Ann Taylor silk top, and J.Crew kitten heels.
On my trip to New York last week I must say that I ate my way though New York at night. My daughter Riley was in charge of the reservations and since she is on a first job working salary she was very excited to have Mama take her to dinner at all of her favorite places. A few I had been to before some were new but every night was incredible fabulous! I even ate french fries and onion rings and I only gained 2 pounds--it was a food extravaganza. Here are pictures from the restaurants and the food from my wonderful week in New York. Thank you Riley for all the preparation that you did for us! You did a stellar job!
First night up Mr. Chow! Mr. Chow has been one of my favorite restaurants since before I live in New York in 1982. My best friend Elizabeth in and I would come here in collage to have drinks and eat at the bar. We even sat next to Andy Warhol one night at the bar--quiet a thrill! I have seen many of movie stars eating at Mr. Chow.
A great pic of Riley and my best friend Elizabeth aka Beast!
Dinner oh my goodness! So incredible. My favorite thing on the menu is gambi it says on the menu that is not seaweed it is a secret.
It is a secret that I would love to know what it is--I dream about it!
Next up was lunch at Eataly on 23rd street. This was our wonderful stop for lunch before we went to the flea market.
This restaurant slash store is amazing!!
Riley with me--its Sunday I did not do my hair. Casual for the flea market even though I look cute in a Joie top!
I have to look cute when I am buying accessories and as Steel Magnolia would say you never know who is looking!

Our delicious lunch--family style!
Hand written menu--so charming!!
Sunday night was Vandal. A new hot restaurant that is in the same restaurant family as Beauty and Essex. Riley had not gotten to try this restaurant yet and was very excited about going! I was feeling spiffy in my new Anthropologie dress with my new vintage cloth belt from Echo. My client and friend Janet Stanley flew in from Puerto Rico and made it even though her flight was so late. The food was fabulous!!
An exotic drink that we all ordered that was spicy and toasted that we got to see one another. Janet took the plant out of her drink!
Sweet Janet who didn't even have time to change clothes.
She dropped her bag at Mary Ellen's apartment and hopped in a cab to come and meet us for dinner!
This divine tartar was served on a homemade pretzel.
These are sea bass tacos. Fantastic!
This delicious meal was skirt steak with eggs and fried rice with a side of french fries! I even splurged and ate some fries!
Riley and Janet got dessert. I ate a bite--I was a good girl!

Dinner again was family style! We had delicious meatballs, peppers, onion rings, and french fries. A different combination of food but it was incredible. The french fries were on my end of the table that was on purpose. I am a french fries lover!!
These were little donuts that came presented in a box. I had to have a bite of one! It was delicious!!
Next up was Buddakan. This was Janet Stanley's favorite restaurant that she wanted to be sure was on the list. This was my second time here and it certainly did not disappoint. Riley is wearing a darling dress that she bought from Rag & Bone that she bought since she has lived in New York and I wanted to steal it!
Riley with Janet. Janet dressed out of Mary Ellen's closet. It was a whole new wardrobe. She had a great time!

More of the Venetian chandeliers! They were stunning!
Of course we had to have fancy drinks! Janet's was extra fancy served in a pineapple!
Fun times with fun family and friends!
This was the first time that Elizabeth got to meet Janet! They became fast friends!
I was impressed with the table setting. The dishes were beautiful and our napkins were rolled in this little tootsie roll. Great presentation!

Steel Magnolia Tip # 13: Always wear lipstick. Who wants to look like a paper bag?
Dinner last night did not compare to my dinners in New York City but it was still delicious! I made home made zucchini soup and served with leftover southwest chicken on top of arugula with a bit of blue cheese dressing and Swiss cheese. Delicious!
I never grow tired of this Stephen Bishop song. It is so sweet!
