Editor's Note: Today I am wearing Carvan dress and J.Crew kitten heels.
In 1999, I moved my client Maggie and Jack from Fort Worth to Boston. It was an exciting project and my first out of town project. I was working for The Market at the time. In 2012, I helped Maggie and Jack furnish a home in Houston. The had left Boston and were going to split their time between their grandchildren out in California and this home in Houston that was close to Maggie's family. I had lost touch with Maggie over their years and I was so excited to get the phone call to help design their home in Houston and work with her again! By the time I was helping with this house in Houston I had completed four other out of town jobs so I was an old pro at it! After I had completed the house in Boston Maggie and Jack had moved to a second home in Boston so they had furniture that I had never seen. Maggie sent me pictures, pillows, and dimensions and we went form there and incorporating furniture from their Boston home that they were selling and adding to for this Houston home. It turned out great--Maggie and Jack were once again happy and I am so happy to have them back in my design world and life! I truly get close to my clients due to spending so much time with them that they become family.
The Family Room--The pillows on the sofa, the wooden arm chairs, and the square skirted table were what we built this room around. The room was oddly shaped so it was challenge for me to make it comfortable for watching TV and incorporate everything that she wanted, but we did it!!
The Breakfast Room off the of the Family Room. The Breakfast chairs were the only given and we did a custom rug, custom bar stools, and a beautiful antique buffet. The art was from her Boston home.
I incorporated her accessories from Boston in the bookcases in the Family Room. Some of the accessories originated in Fort Worth.
The chairs and the side tables came from Boston and the sofa, rug, and coffee table was new. I did a bench under the side table to the right for extra seating and to fill the space since the table was long and open on the bottom. The antique lamps we found in Dallas for this house.
Another view of the living room. The pillows on the sofa were new. The beautiful rug is from Asmara.
The Master Bedroom we ordered the fabric headboard and all new bedding. The rug was custom from Kravet.
Kerr Collection a custom chest of drawers for me for the Master.
It was actually Maggie's idea to paint the back of the bookcases this Chinese red. It really exploded her accessories that we placed in there.
The beautiful display cabinet came from California. Maggie saw a picture of this chandelier and told me she had to have it. I researched who it was from and had it made for the house. The dining chairs originated from the Fort Worth house, traveled to Boston, and now traveled to Houston. The dining table had not arrived at the time that I took this picture.
The Study---we found these chairs at Schumacher and Maggie feel in love with them. Divinely comfortable!
Love these quotes!
Dinner was salmon seasoned with lemon, butter, and Cajun seasoning cooked on 400 for 20 minutes. I made a fresh mushroom with a little bit of spinach salad seasoned with a spicy Chipotle dressing. Delicious!!
A friend introduced me to Steve Forbert last fall. I have fallen in love with his music!
