Editor's Note: Today I am wearing dress shorts by Theory, blouse from Ann Taylor, and shoes by Christian Lacroix.
Many of my days as an Interior Designer are full of action and very diverse. This morning I started out by putting the final touches on Riley and Harrison's new rooms in my house. Riley's drapes got installed yesterday and Harrison's new dust ruffle. Harrison's new drapes were installed previously. Last night I hung art until 9:00 in Riley and Harrison's room bringing art from our old house and moving art around in our new house. I think Riley's room turned out to be precious and very feminine. Our first appointment this morning was putting the final plans on a wedding reception on Joe T Garcia's for June 5th. We were finalizing flowers, table clothes, table placement, and food. From there we went to the wholesale florist to order the flowers. On the way to the wholesale florist we dropped boxes off at a storage facility. After the wholesale florist back to the office to have our lunch "minute" at our desk and to make some sense into order of the art and accessories that I bought out in Baton Rouge. Our next appointment is a commercial job that we are carpentering the office space and reupholstering the receptionist area. I love the many hats that I wear during a day in Kay Genua Designs. It makes my world twirl!
Riley's new room! The bed has been in our family since the mid 1880's and the dressing table was my grandmothers. The chair in the window was my great-grandmothers and also lived in my father's office in the '60s. There is no telling how many times this chair has been reupholstered and now as a fabulous new face!
Another view of her room!
One view of Harrison's room. The chair I placed in the corner was my grand-father's favorite chair where he sat every afternoon and had his Totty. Very sentimental to me! The bird print to right was found in Santa Fe. Lacie Rue on the floor was helping me every step of the way!
The sea of rose bowls and vases that we will use for the wedding reception!
The coolers in the whole sale florists. What a beautiful sea of flowers!
The main room in the wholesale florist!
Making sense of art and accessories that I bought in Baton Rouge. I love the gallery where I purchased these items.
They are all local artists from the Baton Rouge area.
My wall in front of my desk is full of inspirational quotes.
I usually peak of these while I am having my lunch "minute". A good attitude and frame of mind always puts you in a good place.
The carpet chose of my commercial job that I will go to in the afternoon.
It is from Karastan and I more often than not use Karastan for my commercial jobs.
Different scenarios that I am presenting my client for the receptionist area. She requested blue!
Love this quote and it is so true!
Last night for dinner I had southwest marinated chicken from Central Market cooked on 375 for 25 minutes. The zucchini was cooked at the same time and temperature and is seasoned with truffle oil and Swiss cheese.
A classic Etta James song that always makes my heart sing!
