Editor's Note: Today I am wearing a top from Anthropologie, jeans by Ann Taylor, kitten heels by J. Crew and a vintage ivory necklace.
One of my favorite cities in the world is Paris. I have had the extreme pleasure and opportunity to go to Paris eight different occasions and I feel like I know the city almost as well as I know New York. I got to go three times on buying trips when I worked for the Market Antiques and Home Furnishings. We bought antiques in the morning from 5 am-noon and then I had the rest of the afternoon off. I used my afternoons even though I was a little tired to walk the streets of Paris. I took in shop windows, looked at restaurants, took pictures of architecture and filled my senses with as much as I could. Here are some of my favorite places in Paris!
This store is incredible! The concept of boutiques inside a store was founded by Gary Lafayette.
Bloomingdale's in New York mimicked the concept and many department stores today have this concept.
The dome over the cosmetic counter is unbelievable and is worth a trip to the store just to see!
This little hotel--Hotel West End is very close to the Avenue Montaigne. The hotel is so charming and I dream of staying in the corner room with the 12 foot ceilings. The corner rooms only hold two people. The owners of the Market got to stay in a corner room and I luckily got to see it. I on the other hand stayed in quiet a smaller room and could extended my arms across the room and touch both side walls. It was a good thing that I spoke French because none of the hotel staff spoke English.
One of my trips to Paris with the Market we stayed at a little hotel on Ile Saint Louis. The Hotel was name Jeu de Paume. This is the oldest party of the city and use to have a fortress around it. The taxis really do not come to the island and it was a little bit of a problem staying there but it was unbelievable charming! When I traveled to Paris with my mother and daughter in 2010, I bought accessories at a store on the island from a lady who refused to convert to Euros and she only allowed transactions in francs. I had to get the hotel to convert it for me so that I could pay her. Truly a time warp!
Notre Dame is as beautiful and as stunning as you would expect it to be!
There is a bridge next to Notre Dame that connects the main part of the city to Ile Saint Louis.
Traveling to the top of the Eiffel Tower is a bit scary my opinion but worth the view!
The boat ride that takes you around Paris on the Seine river is incredible.
There are headphones that speak to you in different languages that tell you about the different bridges and buildings that you pass.
This is the Joe Garcia's of Paris. The only serve steak, french fries, and salad. All you do is tell them how you want your steak. It is the most divine steak that I have had in my life and I wish I could figure out the butter herb sauce that the put on the steak so that I can recreate it at home! There are two locations, one in walking distance from Hotel West End and both have a little bit different flavor of atmosphere!
I went to Thirsty Thursday last night at River Crest so this morning I took a picture of my breakfast.
I had a hard boiled egg and hot tea. My single egg in the morning has been part of my losing 25 pounds!
This song is from the movie Funny Face that was filmed in Paris. It is an incredible romantic movie!
