Editor's Note: Today I am wearing Rebecca Taylor silk blouse, Elie Tahari pants,
New York & Co sweater, and Vince Camuto shoes.
I was fortunate to find my best friend for life at the age of 12, her name is Elizabeth Beier. We met at Country Day School and have been best friends since 7th grade. We have lived through all the trials and tribulations of junior high, high school, college, living in New York, getting married, having children, raising children, and navigating our careers. We nick named each other "Beast" in 7th grade which had something to do with a short story or a poem but neither of us remembers why. My name is "Beast" and her name is "Beast." Which to most of the people in the outside world sounds pretty crazy but it is an enduring term to each of us. I had my twins first and Beast wanted to be known as Beast. It wasn't until my twins were 10 years old that my son Harrison asked me, "Mom is that her real name?" and to which I replied, "No, her real name is Elizabeth but she wants you to call her Beast." Having a best friend to share your life with is a joy and a comfort. I bet we will be singing and dancing and laughing when we are 90 years old. Here are some pictures of us traveling through our times of friendship..
Sorry for the pour quality! I took a picture of the picture in the photo album. As you can see by the yellow on the photos these pictures are old! We were in high school here at Rivercrest and Colonial Country Club. Mexican dresses were quite the thing back then!
Here we are senior year outside of her apartment at Yale. I tried traveled up to Yale to see her and she traveled down to Tulane to see me! Beast got to live in this cool apartment because of her grades! She is wicked smart!
After living in New York from 1982-1983 my mother and I have traveled back to see her every summer!
Starting at age 5, my daughter Riley joined us and has come every year! Happiness is having dinner with your best friend!
One of our nights out in New York with mother and Riley!
Beast and I are both major dog lovers! This is my dog Lacey Rue. This was taken at one of Beast trips to Texas to visit me!
This was taken at Thanksgiving lunch at Rivercrest. Beast has always been considered a member of our family!
Beast and my mother having lunch in Grand Central Station. Beast is the second daughter that my mother never had.
At her son Paul's Bar Mitzvah, I wouldn't have missed this special event for anything in the world!
The two Beasts at my daughter Riley's debutante party! I was so thrilled that she was there with me!
Another New York dinner.
Riley lived in New York last summer and had Beast as a second mom taken care of her.
I love these two quotes!
Last night for dinner I had a lamb chop with kale salad. Delicious!
So inspired by this song by Nat King Cole!
