Editor's Note: Today I am wearing a skirt by Misook, top by Doncaster Collection, Louis Vuitton scarf, and kitten heels by Vince Camuto.
When I start a job and begin to pull fabrics for a room, one fabric will catch my attention and I will build everything else around it. It is usually the print that starts the room, but sometimes it might be a woven fabric for a sofa or a chair. There is an old rule of thumb that you should always start the room with the rug, but I have found that that rugs are a little heavy to carry around; so I always start with fabrics and then search for the rug. It is far easier to carry a bag of fabrics and throw down on rugs then I start to search for the right rug. Here are some examples of rooms that I have pulled for various clients!
This is for a ladies study! I usually make the print the drapery.
This is a master bedroom and one is the prettiest ones that I have every done! It makes my heart sing big!
This is for a great room at a vacation home! The rug was custom designed from Lee Jofa.
This is for a guest house/cabana. It is so happy and cheery!
This is a master bedroom in a second home.
This was one exception in that the needle point rug was a given so I dragged it around with me.
I took over the showroom opened it on the floor and went to work. Definitely the Kay way of doing things!
This is for a breakfast/morning room at a Lake House.
This is the Great Room in the same Lake House.
This is for the living area in a golf resort house. The print was on the chairs and it was very dramatic!
Here is another example of me taking over a showroom. Good thing I sell a lot so no one really says anything to me.
I was planning an executives office this day.
Last night for dinner I had salmon with a herb butter that I bought from Central Market and an Oriental salad from Costco.
Once again dinner prep time 5 mins!
I just realized this morning that this song is from Daughtry. Another American Idol find!
