Editor's Note: Today I am wearing pants from J.Crew, silk blouse from Theory, sweater from Laundry, and flats from J.Crew.
On Monday when I was posting my weekend Instagram Picks one of the pictures that I posted from Mark D. Sikes was of Lee Radziwill in a home decorated by Renzo Mongiardino in the 70's. I had never heard of either one of these peoples but loved the room. In reading my new Architectural Digest that just came in the mail yesterday low and behold there is an article on Renzo Mongiardino project in Switzerland. At the end of the article there is a picture of Lee Radziwill. I had to look them both up now! Lee Radziwill is the sister of Jackie Kennedy and Renzo is a famous architect and designer in Milan who died in 1998 at age 81. It is such a coincidence that these two people crossed my path in two days. Funny how the world works that way! This home that Renzo designed and decorated in Switzerland is incredible as well as the article in Architectural Digest. I hope you love and notice attention to the detail as much as I do. Happy Tuesday everyone!
In reading the article on this gorgeous home--Renzo drew all the details by the house by hand and then had artisans make them. What an incredible talented man!
This entry wallpaper and pair of doors are as fresh today as they were when this house was installed!
What an incredible room and wow oh wow look at that ceiling!!
A view from the Living Room into the Octagonal Hall. The floor is especially stunning!
What a graceful and beautiful staircase and chandelier. The only art is the bust on the pedestal but all the architectural details in this staircase speak for themselves!
I absolutely adore the bedroom in this top of this page. I have a thing about going up and down in houses and I love how the entry stairs go down into the bedroom. I love the linen print used all around the room and the Russian bed is incredible! The article talks about how the use of Trompe L'Oeil and real stone was used throughout the house. If you can believe these walls are the Trompe L'Oeil they looks so real! I love all the different marbles used throughout this room and the little windows through the showers. So beautiful!
The bookcases features walnut and briarwood wood which are stunning and set the tone for the entire room. Once again the architecture almost steals the show of the room with the ceiling and the moldings going around the room!
Another view of the Living Room looking into the entry. The gorgeous deep pink on these stools is so beautiful against the wall cover!
I must admit that I do not always read the design notes after a project in Architectural Digest but I took in every element of this one!
A picture of Renzo in one of the rooms that is featured in the design note pages! What an incredible talented man that graced this earth until 1998. A true artisan!
