Editor's Note: Today I am wearing suede skirt from Vince, top from Ann Taylor, Cashmere Sweater from Marc Jacobs, and Vince Camuto kitten heels.
One of the bonuses of me retiring from decorating houses from Christmas is that I got to go to the Christmas Garden Club lunch for the first time. It is always fallen on one of my Christmas decorating days and I was always so sad to miss. I have not been able to attend as many Garden Club functions as I would have liked to. There are so many incredible lectures! Since I grow my own orchids I am a little bit of a gardener so I am looking forward to learning more about gardening in the future. The luncheon was more than elegant even though I feel really cute today I probably should have worn a more dressier outfit but that is okay because I got to attend! I do love my new suede skirt from Vince that was my treat to myself this fall. I went to the Garden Club luncheon with my mother and we got to talk to a lot of friends. The home was absolutely stunning and beautiful served. It was my first official Christmas party of the season even though I wasn't wearing red. Let the festivities begin! I had a great time! Here are some highlights from the party.
The Butt's Home was an old estate in the River Crest area that they bought and totally refurbished. They added a motor court in the front and beautiful landscaping. I have been to the home when the previous owners died and went to their estate sale. It was fun for me to see the home before and after especially as a designer.
The beautiful motor court in front of the original home. The garage on the left was also added on to the front of the house.
Gorgeous Living Room! Beautiful appointed! Full of friends!
There was not a buffet at the luncheon. There were so many waiters that once everyone found a seat everyone was brought their food which was such a treat. This was my view looking onto the Dining Room. The wallpaper in the Dining Room is stunning! I think it is either Gracie or De Gournay.
A view looking from my seat through the entry hall and the library.
Lunch was delicious with a quiche, butternut squash soup, and chicken salad. Very lady like!
Gorgeous flower arrangement in the middle of the Dining Room table! Since it was a Garden Club luncheon the flowers over all of the house were beautiful!
Me with my sweet mother in the Living Room.
Of course being a designer I had to take a picture of the powder room. I loved every detail! I loved the shape of the back-splash at the vanity, the gorgeous faucet set, and the beautiful sconces. The wallpaper looked hand painted.
I love this scene in the hallway on to the powder room. Only a ladies luncheon would you have so many beautiful handbags all in one small spot.
Steel Magnolia Tip #88: When the going gets tough the tough gets going! Thank God for every day that you wake up and make it a good one!
Dinner last night was a grass-fed ground beef from Central Market, tomato seasoned with Chile Oil, oregano oil, mozzarella cheese, and served with broccoli cooked in the oven. I am queen of cooking in the oven and throwing away the foil afterwards--it aids in clean up!
I absolutely adore this song! It always gives me a warm and cozy feeling!
